Note: If a 3-wire fan is connected, but BIOS Setup is set to “4-Wire” (= Default) the fan willoperate at full speed (=12V).In 3-wire mode, the default minimum operating voltage is set to ~ 6V.

Minimum fan speed can be customized via SilentFanConfig-Manager tool! ftp://ftp.ts.fujitsu.com/pub/Mainboard-OEM-Sales/Products/Mainboards/Industrial&ExtendedLifetime/D2831-S_D2836-S/IndustrialTools_D283x-S/

Note: The intrusion supervision feature needs to be enabled in BIOS Setup first (Menu „Security“ „Cabinet Monitoring“). This BIOS option is only available if pin 3 („Intrusion Switch Present“) is connected to GND!

Chassis Intrusion

1 Intrusion Connector

Break Contact

Contact closed Chassis is openContact open Chassis is closed

Chassis intrusion is active even if the system is switched off (S5 state) or disconnected from mains power. The intrusion event is monitored by the Southbridge (ICH) and stored in the BIOS Eventlog during the next Boot.A timestamp (Boot date/time) will be added then. Note: This timestamp does not represent date/time of the intrusion event!

If a Supervisor Password is enabled in BIOS Setup, the system will stop during BIOS POST if an intrusion event has been detected. In order to continue, the Supervisor Password must be entered to confirm the intrusion event.

Note: - A Windows API to monitor the intrusion event is available- The intrusion event is transmitted via LAN ASF and can be monitored remotely by an appropriate ASF application

Onboard Voltage Supervision (Voltage Guard)

Jumper removed = Supervision Enabled

In this case, all major onboard voltages are monitored by hardware comparators. If any voltage is out of range a system reset will be generated and the power supply (PSON) will be switchedoff. The system can be switched on again after AC power has been removed for several seconds.

Temperature Sensors

Northbridge Sensor

Super I/O Sensor

Processor Sensor 1)

Sensor / Fan Matrix

All relevant System Monitoring parameters can be customized via SilentFanConfig-Tool!

• Indicates which sensor influences the specific fan speed

• Note: Characteristics for FAN1 is always dependent on the CPU temperature – fully controlled by the system BIOS. Due to safety reasons the influence of the CPU sensor for FAN1 cannot be disabled, but Sensor1 and / or Sensor2 can be activated in addition!

1) Note: As Intel has replaced the analogue processor „diode“ temperature measurement by the digital „PECI“ measurement (Platform Environment Control Interface) which does no longer provide the absolute processor temperature, SystemGuard can only display the processor´s temperature range.

• Available for download: ftp://ftp.ts.fujitsu.com/pub/Mainboard-OEM-Sales/Products/Mainboards/Industrial&ExtendedLifetime/D2831-S_D2836-S/IndustrialTools_D283x-S/

• Use SilentFanConfig to adjust the required settings. • As result, SilentFanConfig creates a BIOS configuration file. Save file as "smco.in“

• Afterwards the “smco.in”-file needs to be flashed into the system BIOS by the DOS-tool "SMCO“: Copy smco.exe and smco.in to a DOS boot medium (USB-stick or USB- floppy or harddisk with DOS), boot on target platform and run following operation: smco smco.in

• New settings are written permanently to system BIOS

• Any BIOS update or BIOS Recovery will not reset the new settings

Connectors for ATX Power Supply

(1) 24 pin connector (ATX layout)(2) 4 pin connector (+12V, GND)

Note: The +12V supply (up to 12A) for processor and chipset is provided via the 4 pin connector! Onboard voltage regulators convert the +12V input power to the appropriate processor / chipset supply voltages.

(3) Processor Core Voltage Regulator: High Effciency Design (= 85% @ 65W) for enhanced power saving and less thermal dissipation loss.

Requirements for ATX Power Supply

1) The ATX power supply should support the minimum load conditions as mentioned in the chart. If the new C3/C4 processor power states are used, theminimum load for +12V will be reduced to 0.1A!

The max. mainboard current in the chart doesn´t include the power for optional adapters and drives!

• Harddisk PasswordThe current system BIOS doesn´t support the HDD password in AHCI- and RAID-mode Full HDD password support will be offered by BIOS > R1.02

• BIOS Recovery AC mains power needs to be unplugged before and after a BIOS Recovery

• Boot from USB Stick or USB HDDIf the BIOS Setup option “Force USB Stick Boot” is enabled, the system will only boot from (any) USB Stick or USB HDD. All other devices will be excluded from the “Boot priority order”.This feature can be used to enable automatic updates whenever an appropriate USB Stickor USB HDD is attached before system boot. The default setting is “disabled”

• LAN LEDs The rear LAN LED's are off in ACPI system states S3 - S5 (Limitation of Realtek LAN controller)

• BIONVD Tool (Change BIOS Setup Defaults) Some BIOS Setup parameters can’t be fixed via BIONVD tool.An updated toolset supporting all parameters is expected for BIOS > R1.02

• Enhanced Idle Power State The system BIOS provides support for the latest C3/C4 processor power saving modes (“Enhanced Idle Power State” = disabled in BIOS Setup by default!). Usage of C3/C4 requires appropriate support of the power supply (e.g. min. load 0.1A@+12V)

Note: If C3/C4 support is enabled, the PCI performance may be reduced!
