MAJOR CHANGES IN OFFICERS OF THE JAPANESE SOCIETY OF CHILD NEUROLOGY

At the 35th General Assembly of the Japanese Society of Child Neurology, held in Kyoto, from June 17 19, 1993, a major change in officers was approved to take place.

Three members of the Board of Trustees retired from the position based upon an interim rule of a retiring age of 65 years old, and a fourth resigned for personal reasons.

The retired board members were Dr Yukio Fukuyama (Tokyo), Dr Satoru Matsumoto (Kobe) and Dr Masamiehi Nagahata (Shizuoka). Dr Keiya Tada (Sendal) resigned All four members here mentioned were nominated and approved as new honorary members

To fill the vacant positions, the following five people were elected as new members of the Board of Trustees:

Dr Kazuie linuma (Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Toboku University School of Medicine, Sendal)

Dr Komei Kumagai (Chief, Division of Child Neurology, Kanagawa Rehabilitation Center Hospital, Atsugi)

Dr Kiyoshi Sato (Professor, Department of Neurosurgery, Juntendo University School of Medicine, Tokyo)

Dr Ikuya Nonaka (Chief, Department of Central Laboratory, Na- tional Musashi Hospital, National Center of Neurology and Psychia- try, Kodaira)

Dr Tadashi Miyatake (Professor, Department of Neurology, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Tokyo)

Dr Y Fukuyama finished his chairmanship of the Board of Trustees which had lasted for 25 years since 1968. To replace him, Dr Shigehi- ko Kamoshita (Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Tokyo) was elected as the new Board chairman, with the unanimous agreement of

all Board members. Dr Toshiaki Abe (Professor of Pediatrics, Teikyo University School

of Medicine, Tokyo) was appointed as a new auditor. In addition, the following 8 people were approved as new counci-

Dr Tatsuhiro Yamanaka (Department of Pediatrics, Yaizu Munici- pal General Hospital, Yaizu, Shizuoka)

Dr Yoshiyuki Suzuki, the president for the year 1993/1994, an- nounced that the 36th annual meeting will be held at the National Education Hall, Toranomon, Tokyo, from June 9 11, 1994.

Dr Morimi Shimada, the president-elect, also announced that hc will host the 37th annual meeting at Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, for the period from June I 3, 1995.

Then Dr Toru Seki (Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Keio Univer- sity, Tokyo) was nominated and approved as the director-at-large for the year 1995/1996.

PERSONNEL

Dr Tadashi Hayashi, a regular member of the JSCN, retired under the age limit as Professor of the Department of Pediatrics, Yamagata University School of Medicine, and took the position of honorary director, Tendo Onsen Shinoda Hospital, as of April 1, 1993.

Dr Tatsuro Izumi, a general affairs officer of the JSCN, a former assistant professor of the Department of Pediatrics, Tokyo Women's Medical College, was appointed as an associate professor of the De- partment of Pediatrics, Oita Medical University, as of April 1, 1993.

Dr Toyojiro Matsuisbi, a councilor of JSCN, was promoted from an assistant professor to an associate professor of the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, Kurume University, as of April 1, 1993.

Dr Nobutada Tachi, a councilor of the JSCN and an assistant profes- sor, Department of Pediatrics of Sapparo Medical College, was ap- pointed as an associate professor at the School of Health Science of the same College, as of April 1, 1993.

Dr Haruki Mikawa, the 1992 1993 president of the JSCN, was nominated as Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Medicine, Kyoto University, after resigning as Professor of the Pediatric Department at the retirement age, and also accepted the position of director, Kansai Electric Power Company Incorporated Hospital, as of April I, 1993.

Dr Ryuichi Nakamura, a councilor of the JSCN, Professor of Reha- bilitation Medicine, Tohoku University School of Medicine, Sendal, was appointed as the director of the hospital affiliated to the National Rehabilitation Center for Physical Disability, Tokorozawa, Tokyo. as of July 1st, 1993,
