Ribbon-cutting, groundbreaking and grand-opening events are a great way to open a new business or a new location. These types of events offer you the opportunity to publicly thank your customers, financial backers, friends and family, and talk about your products and services. In addition, ceremonial events such as these allow you to: Introduce both the public and Chamber members to your new location Familiarize the public and Chamber members with your product/services Begin a customer base Generate leads and sales from attendees If you are a Dublin Chamber member, we can help with your event! The Dublin Chamber will: • Send out an email to Ambassadors and Chamber Board Members inviting them to attend. • Help promote your event on www.DublinChamber.org. Just log in to the Chamber’s member portal using your username and password to post your event on the Chamber’s community calendar. Don’t know your username or password? Contact us at 614-889-2001. • Announce your event in Dublin Chamber News, a bi-monthly newsletter. Just send your event details to [email protected] by the following deadlines: • Jan./Feb. edition – Dec. 10 deadline • March/April edition – Feb. 10 deadline • May/June edition – April 10 deadline • July/Aug. edition – June 10 deadline • Sept./Oct. edition – Aug. 10 deadline • Nov./Dec. edition – Oct. 10 deadline • Send a Chamber representative to attend your event. Please coordinate your date with the Chamber well in advance to avoid date and time conflicts, and to give you more time for publicity. • Provide the “giant scissors”and ribbon at the event ... a great photo opportunity! • Publish your event wrap-up with your photo in the next edition of Dublin Chamber News or on social media. (Subject to printing space and deadline.) Send your photos and event details to [email protected] immediately after your event.

RIBBON-CUTTING AND GRAND-OPENING EVENTS

To make sure your event is successful, carefully consider the following steps.    1. Setthedateandtimeoftheevent,andcoordinatewithChamberstaff.

2. Sendinvitationsthree-to-sixweeksbeforeyoureventtoyourfamily,friends, andpast,currentandpotentialcustomers, businessassociates(includingyour accountant,banker,andpropertyowner), suppliers, employees,themedia, neighboring businesses,andgovernmentofficials. 

3. Consider having give-away items, especially items with your logo that guests can take with them. Visit www.DublinChamber.org/promotions for a list of Chamber member businesses that can help create these special give-away items. 

4. Foodandbeverageisnotrequired,butforopen-houseevents,itisa nicetouch.ForalistofDublinChambermembercateringfirms,visit www.DublinChamber.org/catering orcalltheChamberforrecommendations.

5. Prepareaquickspeechtowelcomeyourguestsandbesuretohaveplentyofbrochures and business cards available.

6. Hireaphotographerorassignsomeoneinyourorganizationtotakephotographs at the event. Chamber member photographers can be found by visiting www.DublinChamber.org/photography.

7. If appropriate, be prepared to offer tours of your facility.

8. Create some type of offer or special discount to hand out so your attendees returnascustomers!

You could also enhance your event by creating a direct mail piece and inviting the entire Chamber membership to attend. The Chamber can provide you with member mailing labels. Labels are updated weekly, require 2-3 days notice prior to pickup and a sample of what you plan to mail, and are available to members for only $150. This is especially encouraged if you are hostinganeventwithprizes,businessspecials,andrefreshments.
