� the 4th Iron Sommelier & Brewmaster Event showcased an incredible menu at the Priest River event center. guests enjoyed live music by Kicho Forrest and Bret Smith during the gourmet food courses paired “expertly” with competing wines or microbrews.

� our Reach Out and Read program continues to support pre-kindergarten literacy under the direction of Dr. geoff Jones with free brand new books during well-child exams. in 2017, we also received a book grant of 500 new books from the Molina Foundation’s 2017 Share-A-Story Campaign for Kids. through that program we were able to award many of our community’s children with brand new books all year!

� the 10th anniversary of our Fore! the Health of It Golf Tournament created a true bonding experience as players were forced to evacuate the course due to in incredible storm at stoneRidge golf course. Regardless of the weather, we had a great time and raised money for Healthy Kids Snack Bags, Reach Out and Read and other nhhs Foundation hospital programs.

� the 10th Newport Autumn Bloom 5K/10K Fun Run welcomed over 130 serious and recreational runnersandwalkersfromallovertheNorthwest.Twomale10Krunnersqualifiedforthe2018 bloomsday second seed placement.

� october was a busy month! We pampered attendees at the Women’s Health Seminar with a scrumptious lunch, gifts and instructions for healthy living by expert speakers. on halloween nhhs staff member, noma hunter, championed a new event --Share the Warmth! community members in need of warm coats were grateful for the support!

� the Healthy Kids Snack Bags program kicked off the 2016/17 academic year in october. hospital staff, Foundation volunteers, and school staff packed and delivered around 200 bags each week! it’s their support and helping hands that make this program manageable for our extended community. in addition, many hospital and school staff members donate funds through payroll deductiontosupporttheprogram.Payrolldeductiondonationsaccountedforalmost$8,700in2017.

� the Festival of TreesinDecemberkickedoffthe2018fundraisingseasonatSadieHalsteadMiddle school in newport, Wa. Daytime events included tree viewing, free santa photos, kids’ crafts, cookiedecorating,andfestiveentertainment.TheEveningBenefitSocialboastedagourmetbuffet, live music from Justin Sherfeyandthetreeraffle.With16raffletreesandmanyfabuloussponsors, the event grossed over $21,000...smashing the previous record for the Festival of trees!

DEXA sCAN BONE DENsity sCANNER...$12,000 Purchased in 2009, this machine performs the most commonly used test for measuring bone mineral density. it is one of the most accurate ways to diagnosis osteopenia or osteoporosis.

gliDEsCOPE ViDEO lARyNgOsCOPE...$10,000this illuminated intubation device was purchased in 2010 and is currently used in our surgery and emergency Departments. this scope provides a consistently clear, real-time view of the airway and tube placement, enabling quick intubation.

DigitAl MAMMOgRAPHy MACHiNE...$45,000this state-of-the-art machine was purchased in 2011 and allows us to screen for early detection of breast cancer.

HEAltHy NEWPORt COMMUNity WEllNEss iNitiAtiVE...$3,395 (2012)...$247 (2013)in 2012, the Foundation partnered with healthy newport to promote healthy living in the community.

HEAltHy kiDs sNACk BAgs...$122,592 (2012 - 2017)in 2012, we contributed over $4,300 to provide healthy snacks to local school children at stratton elementary in Newport.Byfallof2013,theFoundationfulfilleditspromisetothecommunityandexpandeddeliveriestoincludethe following communities of cusick, Wa; oldtown, iD; Priest River, iD; Priest Lake, iD; and newport, Wa. since then, the Foundation has added snack deliveries to the Kalispel career training center (Kctc), Pend oreille River School,PendOreilleSkillsCenter,andPendOreilleValleySchool.Foundationeventsandspecificgrantshelpedsustain the program for another year. as of 2017, all snacks are USDA Smart Snack approved!

REACH OUt AND READ...$909 (2015)...$2,631 (2016)...$1,830 (2017)in 2015, Dr. geoff Jones spearheaded this project to promote pre-school literacy. children (birth to age 5) receive new books during their well-child visits. in 2016, the Foundation dedicated the reading-friendly Children’s Literacy Corner at newport health center to nhhs primary care providers who champion children’s literacy efforts every day.

NEWBORN HEARiNg EqUiPMENt ...$5,547 (2017)In2017,theNHHSObstetricsteamapproachedtheFoundationtofulfillaneedforupdatednewbornhearingscreening equipment. the previous screening equipment was no longer effective and had been received as part of a grant. We were thrilled to approve their request!
