Making My Headline Poster

Newspaper Name

I looked back at the font I used on my newspaper’s front page for my newspaper’s name. Its is Bookman Old Style. I doesn’t matter if the size isn't the same as the newspaper title as it has to be to-scale of the size of the page. After I had typed, I then put a good sized box around it to make it stand out. I have kept in mind that the size of these letters depends on what size I print it out as.

HeadlineI had to make sure this was bold, impacting and could be seen from a fair distance away. I used the traditional headline font of Times New Roman. I found that when I typed, I still had the problem of the word ‘trampoline’ not fitting in on one line, so had to settle with splitting it. I also made the text bold so that it would be easier to notice when somebody I walking by. I had to make sure I left enough room for my scan square – so that the scan square would be big enough for somebody to notice and then want to use their smart phone to scan it. I also had to make sure the contact details were big enough to see, but I think that if somebody sees the scan square and then gets their smart phone out, they will then see the contact details. I will make the letters bigger if I have enough space when I have applied the scan code and contact details to the bottom right – which I where I have purposely placed them as it is known to be the most aesthetically pleasing spot.

Scan Code and contact detailsI decided to alter these together because I would have to make sure they were both in proportion with each other and looked okay at certain sizes. I wanted to make them both a similar size, so that my target audience will feel as if there are different ways they can contact my newspaper. I know that these may look big, but as this poster would be put outside it needs to be seen from a distance, therefore I think this is an appropriate size. The headline still stands out before everything else.

Finished Poster

I have finished everything I need to with this poster. I have chosen to keep it black and white to match my newspaper look. I have also remembered that my poster will probably be up for more than a few days because my newspaper is released every week, not every day. It is a very simple and straight-forward layout which work well because if I were to have one every week for every issue of my newspaper, there is a certain template I can follow, therefore making it quick and easy to produce another poster.
