(b) any road, harbour works, railway, cableway, canal or aerodrome;

(c) any drainage, irrigation or river control works;

(d) any electrical, mechanical, water, gas, petrochemical or telecommunication works; or

(e) any bridge, viaduct, dam, reservoir, earthworks, pipeline, sewer, aqueduct. culvert, drive, shaft, tunnel or reclamation works

Valuers, Appraisers And Estate Agents Act 1981 (Act 242)

Valuers

Only a registered valuer can call himself a – "Valuer", "Land Economist", "Property Consultant" or "Property Manager“. . . [cont‘d]

Property Management

Currently only a registered valuer can practice as a Property Manager. The property manager ensures that the owner gets the best returns of his property investment. He also ensures that the building is well maintained, the building services well looked after and all expenses paid. . . . [cont’d]

Significant Milestones

MALAYSIAN ASSOCIATION OF FACILITY MANAGEMENT (2017)

Significant milestones of MAFM Registered in 2005, mainly led by a group of academicians

from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). ± 50 members in total.

Very low awareness of MAFM and the Facility Management industry at that time.

First significant appearance in the National Asset and Facility Management Convention (NAFAM) 2007.

‘Revived’ in 2009 – new Objectives, amended Constitution and expanded Membership coverage to provide opportunity for broader participation from various FM stakeholders.

MALAYSIAN ASSOCIATION OF FACILITY MANAGEMENT (2017)

Significant milestones of MAFM Paper presentation in the 1st International Facility

Management Conference, Padang Sumatera Barat, Indonesia in 2010.

Work with the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) to develop FM training module & examination scheme for Malaysian FM Contractors.

Advisory Panel for FM Degree and Advanced Diploma offered by Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah.

MAFM speaks in seminars/conferences organised by CIDB, JKR and other organisers.

Significant milestones of MAFM (cont’d)

MAFM assisted MATRADE in Saudi FM Expo 2012.

International Seminar on Asset & Facility Management 2011 – MAFM collaborated with CIDB Malaysia.

2014 – Affiliated to the Malaysian Services Providers Confederation (MSPC). MAFM as one of the Council members.

MAFM as the Chair for ISO 41000 for FM in Malaysia (by Department of Standards).

MAFM as the advisor for CIDB Malaysia in the registration of FM contractors and development of FM skill standards.

To date ± 500 members in total.
