Royal College of Physicians, 11 St Andrews Place, Regent’s Park, London NW1 4LE

Wednesday 19th November 2014

What is MALG?The Money Advice Liaison Group (MALG), formed in 1987, is a non-policy making discussion forum for creditors, debt collecting agencies, enforcement ocers, debt advisers and others wishing to promote greater communication, understanding, good practice and professionalism between organisations with an interest in personal credit and debt. It has 56 such national bodies in membership.

Who should attend? The Conference is recommended to anyone working with or within the consumer credit and debt industry and we aim to strike a balance of delegates.

Individuals who have successfully completed the IMA-led Certicate in Money Advice Practice are able to obtain CPD points for attendance without charge.

Debt Advisers: Debt advice workers -‘fee or free’ - will be able to network with creditors and colleagues on neutral ground (Delegates attending from the free-to-client sector can apply to have their travel and accommodation costs subsidised.)

Creditors, enforcement ocers, debt purchasers and debt collectors: the event represents a great opportunity to network with the debt advice sector and colleagues and to share ideas. It’s also a chance to hear about what is happening on the ground and to hear and meet various industry leaders.

DMP providers and insolvency practitioners: take the opportunity to hear and share views on debt management regulation, developments in the debt advice and insolvency sectors and network with colleagues from a range of relevant industries.

Regulators: the world of debt involves more regulators than ever before - the MALG Conference & Exhibition represents an opportunity to learn more about the workings of the debt advice and creditor sectors and to meet with a wide variety of players including industry and regulatory leaders.

About the ConferenceTicking the box on problem debt - job done then? A provocative title perhaps but MALG has never shied away from controversy!

Whether we are creditors, regulators or debt advisers, surely we have the same goal - to help people out of debt? Are we being eective and is there more we can do? Surely ‘tick-box’ processes are an anathema when it comes to ensuring good practice? These are questions that people on all sides of the debt debate will ask themselves. In recent years, many of us have faced new rules and new regulations; all with the honest aim of protecting people and helping markets work eectively. But do these changes mean the job has been done or should we be focusing less on process and more on outcomes? Join us to discuss these issues at MALG’s Annual Conference & Exhibition. The MALG Conference has a long and rich history of bringing together creditors, regulators, debt advisers and other interested groups on neutral ground to help improve practices in the debt and creditor sectors and to drive helpful innovations.

This year’s Conference will once again oer that same opportunity to draw together industry leaders and frontline workers to discuss some of the central issues facing the debt advice and creditor sectors. Headlinemoney Financial Broadcast Journalist of the Year Paul Lewis will chair the Conference which will include MALG’s famous panel debate, interactive workshops, our biggest ever exhibition and many networking opportunities.

For the second year running the event will take place at the prestigious Royal College of Physicians in Central London with its excellent facilities and links to public transport. We will also be hosting our annual Exhibition and we look forward to welcoming back exhibitors from previous years as well as new ones. Please get in touch with our Conference Manager, David Legg for further details by emailing [email protected]

We are pleased once again to oer nancial assistance to free-to-client debt advisers wishing to attend the Conference with travel on a rst come rst served basis. Please contact David Legg by email to nd out more about this facility.
