Employment Outlook Survey Q3 2014 Summary
• The national Net Employment Outlook (NEO) has risen to +8, up from a revised +7 in the second quarter of 2014
• At the top-line level, MEOS has been inching up through 2014 after a solid 2013, and now stands at its highest level since Q1, 2008
• The raw data is again more positive: 12% of employers are looking to hire in Q3, with 3% looking to reduce head count and 83% to retain the same staffing levels. The remaining 2% is undecided
• Finance & Business Services is the most positive sector on +12, along with Mining and Quarrying
• Rather surprisingly, Construction is the only sector in negative territory (-1) and down 3 points
• Large, medium and small business all report strong Outlooks of +17.
