(The cutting blade rotates when the engine is started) Press in the decompression valve. Decompression Valve Slide 5 Husqvarna K 970 Rescue Saw Starting Procedures: Make sure the STOP switch is in the left position. Cold Engine - Pull the choke out completely. Warm Engine Pull the choke out and then push it in again. Slide 6 Husqvarna K 970 Rescue Saw Starting Procedures: Press the air purge repeatedly until fuel fills the diaphragm (about 6 times). Slowly pull the cord until you feel resistance, now quickly and powerfully pull the cord. Push the decompression valve back in and pull the starter handle until the engine starts. Slide 10 Husqvarna K 970 Rescue Saw Operating Procedures: Keep RPMs high so blade doesnt bog down in the cut. If your blade begins to bog down, quickly raise it a bit from the point of contact and let the RPMs spin back up without removing the blade from the cut. Try to keep the blade straight and perpendicular to the cut. Some pressure can be applied to increase cut speed. The blade should not be rotating when the saw is being carried. Press down the trigger lockout and pull throttle trigger at the same time. Chaps shall be worn during training and non- emergency incidents (trees and limbs in roadway). The chain brake should be engaged when the saw is being carried.
