The process of validation

– The stepping between various source of information (Web site, ministries, directories and catalogues of fairs and exhibitions)

– The confrontation of information with the data declared by the interested parties

– The reactions of the panel of expert will be taken in account And the comments of the working group

The current R&D and innovation state of affairs

on ICT in TUNISIA


PUBLIC ACTORS

• The part of the R&D in the GDP has increased twice during last 5 years to exceed 1 % in 2006 and to reach 1.25 % by 2009,

• The major players affecting Tunisia research and in the same time involved in research are:– Research laboratories (RL)

– Research Units (RU)

– Sciences and computer engineering


Research laboratories (RL):

• 7 laboratories out of a total of 139 which is a percentage of 5%

• 244 researchers and teachers-researchers

• 520 Third Cycle students (including 310 doctoral students) out of a total of 3510.

• 39 publications in indexed magazines out of a total of 790 which is a percentage of 5%.


Research Units (RU):

• 9 research units,

• 90 researchers and teachers-researchers.

• 135 Third Cycle students including 87 PhDs.

• 18 publications in indexed magazines out of a total of 1614 which represent a percentage of 1%.

• Private companies are less involved in research. Only those who are under contract with European private companies have research activities.

• Some associations are involved in ICT research activities. Mainly associations of internet and TIC with large dissemination TIC cultural among young.

• More than 90 per cent of the identified actors are small companies
