A Prayer Amid an Epidemic
By Kerry Weber
Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages “curing every disease and illness.” At your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the coronavirus, that we may experi-ence your healing love. Heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care. Heal us from our fear, which prevents nations from working together and neighbors from helping one another. Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders. Jesus Christ, healer of all, stay by our side in this time of uncertainty and sorrow. Be with those who have died from the virus. May they be at rest with you in your eternal peace.
Be with the families of those who are sick or have died. As they worry and grieve, defend them from illness and despair. May they know your peace. Be with the doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical professionals who seek to heal and help those affected and who put them-selves at risk in the process. May they know your protection and peace. Be with the leaders of all nations. Give them the foresight to act with charity and true con-cern for the well-being of the people they are meant to serve. Give them the wisdom to invest in long-term solutions that will help prepare for or prevent future outbreaks. May they know your peace, as they work together to achieve it on earth. Whether we are home or abroad, surrounded by many people suffering from this illness or only a few, Jesus Christ, stay with us as we endure and mourn, persist and prepare. In place of our anxiety, give us your peace. Jesus Christ, heal us. Kerry Weber is an executive editor of America

Cohort 17 Parishes
Lenten Reconciliation Week 2020
The Cohort’s Lenten Reconciliation Week is cancelled due to the Coronavirus. Please see the parish website for modified hours for Confessions. In the event of an urgent need for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, please phone the parish office (732-222-8080) to make arrangements with a parish priest for an appointment.

The two “thermometers” above compare our parish’s 2019 vs. 2020 results-to-date in the Annual Catholic Appeal. The thermometers indicate good news. This year’s total after five weekends is significantly ahead of our parish’s total after five weekends in 2019. Thank you!
2019 After Five Weekends
2020 After Five Weekends
Parish Goal = $109,000
$75,000
$46,493
$68,258*
*This $68,258 figure is ap-proximately 62.6% of our parish goal. It was received through and including the fifth weekend of the cam-paign (tallied as of March 18) from 250 pledgers or check-writing contributors (and many unidentified, un-quantified cash contributors) all of whom comprise ap-proximately 8.7% of the 2,851 registered households of the parish. Thank you! The Diocese sent a Diocesan-wide mailing during the week of February 10 to all of our registered parishioners and past ACA contributors asking for prayerful consid-eration of a pledge/contribution to the Appeal. Please help to the extent that you can.
Each of us has a vital part in all we do in Christ’s name, and each of us can share in all we do with a gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA). Our single Act of Faith propels the works of love that build up our Church. You make that happen with a generous gift to the ACA. Your contribution does make a difference! Please help. Please contribute. Please make a pledge.
THE ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL IN ACTION!
1. HOW YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL HELP THE TRENTON DIOCESE HELP OTHERS:
Evangelization - Ministry to Families, Youth and Young Adults
Repairing the church’s 1886 cornerstone
Replacing the church’s votive candle racks
Obtaining safety/security cameras and monitors
Replacing chasubles and other vestments
$109,000
2. HOW YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL HELP ST. MICHAEL’S CHURCH HERE AT HOME:
Every person belongs to a family. Families are the foundation of the Catholic parish. In the midst of the family and the parish community, people encounter Christ and learn to be His disciples. Family and Parish are the prima-ry environments in which evangelization takes place. Parents - - within the family and within the home - - are the first teachers of their children: teaching their children how to ride a bike, how to tie their shoelaces, how to build a snowman...as well as how to pray, how to bless themselves, how God made them, and how much Jesus loves them. THAT is evangelization...evangelization in the home and in the family. “Together in Mission” is a tool to support such evangelization efforts. Youth events and service opportunities, young adult gatherings, Mar-riage prep, Baptismal prep, Ministry to separated and divorced persons are just a few of the services offered. Your gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal promotes individuals and family life.

The Coronavirus Situation: ADDITIONAL UPDATES AND RELEVANT INFORMATION
• Please remember that Bishop O’Connell has granted a DISPENSATION from the OBLIGATION to attend weekend/Sunday Mass to all the Catholic faithful in the Diocese of Trenton until further notice. The Bishop recommends that the faithful pray and take advantage of/participate in Holy Mass as broadcast on television and radio. Weekly collection envelopes may be mailed to the parish office and may also be dropped off at the parish office during business hours.
• Our parish priests will continue to celebrate (non-publicly; no congregation present) all of the parish’s Monday through Saturday weekday Masses and offer those Masses for the announced intentions published in the bulletin and continue to celebrate (non-publicly; no congregation present) two of the parish’s ten Saturday Vigil Masses and Sunday Masses and offer those two Masses for the announced intentions published in the bulletin. As to the intentions that were scheduled for the Saturday Vigil Masses and Sunday Masses that are not celebrated: (a) with the express permission of the Bishop and dispensing the applicable provision (canon 948) of canon/Church law those intentions will be the inten-tion of the two weekend private/non-public Masses celebrated by Fr. John and Fr. Mark; this special permission from the Bishop has been given for as long as Masses are cancelled in the Diocese due to the coronavirus pandemic and (b) the parish staff will contact the family members and other individuals who have made the requests for those Masses to make arrangements for an additional Mass to be celebrated for the requested intention (no additional stipend will be charged) once the suspension of public Masses is withdrawn.
The Cohort 17 Lenten Reconciliation Week (March 23 to March 27) has been cancelled in its entirety. Those desiring the Sacrament of Reconciliation are asked to phone the parish office at (732) 222-8080 to arrange for an appointment with one of the parish priests who will gladly accommodate the request.
• There will be no CCD classes on Sunday, March 22 and Tuesday, March 24. Mr. Connelly has been and will be com-municating via email with all CCD students, parents, teachers, and teachers aides regarding further related details (for example: lesson plans, online instruction, homework and notebook assignments, quizzes and tests, etc.). The resumption or non-resumption of CCD classes will be evaluated as the Coronavirus situation develops and Mr. Connelly will email updates from time to time.
• In case of an emergency outside of business hours (including a request for a priest for the Sacrament of the Sick), please phone the parish office at (732) 222-8080 and the answering service will contact the parish priest or other appro-priate parish staff member to respond to your emergency.
• Hospitalized or homebound parishioners who desire to receive Holy Communion are asked to phone the parish office to make arrangements. A parish priest or Eucharistic Minister will be happy to bring Communion to such individuals.
Stations of the Cross and the Soup & Salad Supper on Friday, March 27 and Friday, April 3 are cancelled.
• The Monday evening and Tuesday morning Bible Study sessions are suspended until the week of April 20.
• Further updates will be placed on the parish website from time to time. Please consult the parish website and the Dio-cese's website for updated information. Please pray for an end to the Covid-19 virus and for healing, consolation, cour-age, and wisdom. St. Michael, pray of us.
