—KOOLE started out as a demolition work company in the industrial sector, but has since grown into an internationally operational company with four different business units:
■ KOOLE Industrial (demolition of factories, installations, tanks, etc.)
■ KOOLE Maritime (salvage operations and disposal of shipwrecks)
■ KOOLE Construction (construction of harbour walls and quay walls)
■ KOOLE Environmental (asbestos removal, liquid clean-up and emergencies)

—Each business unit specialises in a particular field of work but can maximise clout using mutual collaboration and exchange of knowledge, skill and experience. Using this method, KOOLE has significantly strengthened its market position over the last few years and has been able to further expand its service. One recent example of this is the acquisition of the Mammoet Salvage company. This rapidly accelerated the development of KOOLE Maritime.

Health, safety and the environment
—Attention to health, safety and the environment is one of the top priorities within the sectors in which KOOLE is active. This can be seen on the shop floor, with the high levels of attention being paid towards employee well-being, but also for the other parties involved in the project. Maintaining safety based on customer requirements forms an integral part of the business operations. Both the law and the quality standards are applied here.
Projects are carried out in such a way as to minimise the impact on humans and the environment. Every conceivable precaution is taken and worked on in accordance with strict protocols and procedures. KOOLE promotes social responsibility and safe business practices, for example by reducing CO2 emissions and investing in sustainable material. In addition, employees are informed of how to use materials in an economical, responsible way.

The power of humans and resources
—KOOLE Maritime boasts a team of very dedicated, well-trained and expert staff. Our team consists of highly experienced specialists who provide a professional service and optimal communication with all those involved on the shop floor. Adequate preparation is carried out prior to each assignment, since we want to avoid leaving anything to chance when it comes down to it. We’re ready around the clock at our head office to optimally supervise projects and support our people on location. We deliver punctual, tight schedules, nautical calculations and take all necessary measures. Communication with clients is essential, as it ensures the operation is transparent and that everyone maintains an understanding of what is at stake.
We have used our on-land experience (Landbased industry) as a basis from which to develop a new approach for our offshore activities. This has since resulted in a large number of successful projects. We work with top quality, specialist floating gear in order to carry out these kind of operations, including international operations.

Offshore and onshore
—Our knowledge and skills combined with our broad experience means that we can salvage any object at sea (including those at extreme depths) or on land and then disassemble and dispose of it in a responsible, environmentally-friendly way. We aim to provide top quality in terms of planning, service provision and the use of materials.
Because we do not depend on material from third parties, we are able to respond quickly on a logistical and organisational level. This means that we’re able to be active on location within a short period of time. During emergency situations, this can be another compelling reason to go to sea with KOOLE. We also work with highly skilled, trained staff and have a well-equipped team of salvage divers who work in a highly professional, careful way.

—Whether it’s a small or large-scale salvage operation: KOOLE has everything you need in-house. For example, we have various large pieces of equipment at our disposal, including barges, cranes, pontoons and a 500-tonne crane ship, the ‘Schiedam’. We recently acquired our own tugboat, the ‘Koole 42’ (formerly the Neptune Mariner). This enables us to carry out every order in a completely self-supporting way, without being dependent on other suppliers, which would often lead to an increase in costs. Accordingly, KOOLE boasts a range of specialist material that is required in order to successfully perform salvage operations at sea or on land, to the full satisfaction of our clients.
Everything in-house for every task!
