Lana Del Rey

Album CoverPromotional pictures. As we can see she is the main

selling point of this album, she is the star. Throughout both these pictures and album cover we see that the colour blue is a on going theme that is branded as Lana Del Rey. There is also a hit of sexual innuendo.

She has branded herself as this sexual American retro solo artist. How? Through there clothes we can tell that she has a vintage look to her, her hair is very dated, her red lips give us connotations of sexual desire. Even the typography of her name suggests an Los Vegas act, very western American, almost a cowgirl.

Rick RossAlbum cover.

Promotional photo Promotional photoAs we can see from these items he has very much branded himself as a sophisticated upper-class Gangster. The mise un scene tells us much about his character. The shades are very much part of this personality, its like his he trying to hide his identity. The beard is also iconic for his look, he has had it from the start of his career.

He also sticks to the forms and conventions of hip hop to establish what type of artist he is. The flashy cars and the expensive jewellery is a status symbol to show his wealth and power.

The typography also helps to establish this gangster look, the “S” which is the dollar sign, again supports the view that he makes money and brands himself and a money making thug, something that many hiphop artists try to portray in their image.
