STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to last week: Slaughter lambs were 10.00 14.00 higher on a very thin test and feeder lambs had no test. Slaughter ewes were 5.00 10.00 higher. Slaughter bucks were 7.00 lower. Kid goats traded 2.00 5.00 lower on a very thin test. Nannies/does traded steady. Bucks/billies and wethers were too thinly traded for an adequate market trend. Trade activity was moderate on moderate demand. In the sheep supply 37% slaughter lambs, 9% feeder lambs, 54% slaughter ewes and bucks with the balance being replacement ewes. The goat supply consisted of 61% slaughter kids, 35% slaughter nannies, 4% slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.

Wednesday, June 18, 2014Over 300 head of slaughter cattle were sold today with the market continuing it’s upward trend on all classes and body conditions of cattle. Fat beef cows ranged from $108-125.50 and fat Holsteins $104.50-113.00. Lean beef cows were again very strong averaging $110.00 and lean Holstein slaughter cows averaged 103.50. Thin beef cows ranged 100.50-106.50 and thin Holstein cows averaged in the low $90’s. Notable consignments today included a load of lean beef cows from Alcora, WY and a load of smooth cows with good cover who had been on feed for 85 days from Delta. Also, a load of black hided lean beef cows, bulls, heiferettes and feeder bulls from Walden.
