DESCRIPTION
Ana Rita, Joana and Sara (11B) proposed this poster to celebrate the life of this freedom hero. Result of a classroom challenge: make a state advertising campaign about some of the class’s freedom heroes. One of the aims was to bring our spirit up in a time of difficulties. As our heroes, we should never give up.TRANSCRIPT
Martin Luther King (1929-1968)
Martin Luther King started fighting for the human
rights when a member of his church was arrested
for not giving her seat to a white person on a bus.
In 1957, he founded and was president of the
Southern Christian Leadership Conference (a
pacifist organization of civil rights).
In 1963, he was one of the organizers of the
peaceful march. In the same year he gave his
most famous and inspiring speech “I have a
dream”.
In 1964, he received the Nobel Peace Prize. Some
months later when he visited Memphis,
Tennessee, to support a strike, he was murdered
by a fanatic white, but the struggle was not over.
In our opinion, this man is an example to all of us,
because despite knowing that he could be killed
at any time, he never gave up fighting. If by his
initiative he managed to make the world a better
place, we can all do it, we just need to have
willpower and determination.
