CHILDREN'S LITURGY of the WORD: Children, ages preschool to Pre First Communion are invited to attend the children’s explanation of the Word of God during Children’s Liturgy on Sunday mornings during the Mass. Thanks for supporting the on-going catechesis of our future church !!! Faith Formation Classes will resume on Wednesday, January 11th at 6:30 SHARP !!! RCIA Classes will meet this Tuesday, January 3rd at 6:00 pm. If you are interested in becoming a Catholic, or learning more about the Catholic Faith please contact Fr. Vernon, during regular office hours, or the Church office. MUSIC MATTERS The Choir will sing on Sunday, January 8th at the 10:00 Mass. Choir Members are to arrive by 9:45 and will not have a full rehearsal that morning.

JOURNEY SIGN UP: The deadline to sign up for Journey has passed and groups are now being formed. At

last count over 70 people had signed up. Thank you for the great response! If you would still like to sign up, contact Ronnie Muro or send an email through the church website. Journey is a small group, faith sharing program for adults that will get started in January. For questions about Journey, contact Ronnie or any member of the Journey team (Pam Black, Pauline Brasfield, Debbie Muro, Louis Muro, Brandon and Abbie Yow). 2012 - The Journey begins!

SERVICE DRIVE: SPIRIT will continue its "Service Drive," an opportunity that gives SPIRIT Youth the chance to help parishioners and other friends of SPIRIT with yard work, odd jobs, or other assistance in exchange for a donation to help offset the cost of NCYC. No work too big and no donation too small. If you have basic odd jobs you'd like help with, please contact Dale Blanchard to request help. Donations are requested at the end of the job.

SPIRIT LOCK-IN – Come ring in the New Year with your SPIRIT family. We will start with Mass at 4:00 pm on December 31st. We will continue with prayer, fun and fellowship in the Family Life Center. SPIRIT youth are asked to bring a drink and snack to share. Lock-in will end at 8:00 am January 1st, 2012.

ST. PATRICK YOUTH BASKETBALL resumes next Saturday, January 7, when our Lady Wildcats play in their home opener at 12 noon against Our Lady of the Valley S. Later, at 4 p.m., the Fighting Irish take on St. Elias at Our Lady of Sorrows. Please come support our girls and boys basketball teams. THE STATE OF ALABAMA KNIGHTS of Columbus has

announced that local Councils have adopted all 45 Seminarians and Novitiates in both the Birmingham and Mobile dioceses, plus three Seminarians outside the state of Alabama. St. Patrick Knights of Columbus Council 10567 monetary donations will go to Brother Patrick Russell. “We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Alabama Councils and Assemblies who are sponsoring at least one Seminarian or Novitiate for the 2011 – 2012 Fraternal Year, by providing both moral and financial support with a monetary contribution that exceeds $38,700."

MARCH FOR LIFE: Saturday, January 14th is the date for the 2012 March For Life that begins with Mass at 9:00 at the Cathedral of St. Paul, celebrated by Bishop Robert Baker. Then everyone will meet at Brother Bryan Park (22nd Street South at 10th Avenue, Birmingham, AL) at 10:45 am. The March will take place rain or shine. March with your kids, teens, youth, family, and friends. Come celebrate life! The March is sponsored by United for Life Committee. SHAWL MINISTRY Shawl Ministry will not meet again until January. Watch the bulletin for updates. THE LADIES AUXILIARY will host a women's retreat at St. Patrick's the weekend of January 20th & 21st. DAILY MASS-ROSARY-NOVENA PRAYER: Daily Mass is at 9 am Wednesday & Thursday and at 10:00 am on First Fridays (Unless otherwise posted under the Weekly Mass Schedule above.) A Rosary, the Daily Prayer for Vocations, and the Miraculous Medal Novena Prayer will be prayed 30 minutes before Daily Mass begins. A Rosary is prayed at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel every Sunday morning. Volunteers are requested to lead the Rosary at each occasion. The Primary Intention of the Rosary prayed is: ‘An End to Abortion’. DAILY MASS MINISTRY: Volunteers are needed to be Lectors and Extraordinary Ministers during Daily Mass. If you would like to serve please check the sign-in sheet in the narthex. If no one is down to serve, just sign your name.

WE NEED CANS: Please save aluminum cans for recycling and place them in the metal bin in the Northwest corner of the upper parking lot or in the yellow plastic can inside the kitchen door. All proceeds from their sale are divided between SPIRIT Youth and Faith Formation. Please help us reduce processing time by rinsing the cans but do not crush. Our crushing machine works with cans near their original shape. Your donation and your help are much appreciated.

PLEASE DO NOT PUT PAPER IN THE ALUMINUM CAN RECYCLING BIN. THANK YOU.
