  • Maslows hierarchy of need Maslows hierarchy of need is a theory in psychology proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper. it is a theory in human motivation in psychological review. His theory parallel many other theories of human psychology.

  • Hierarchy Maslows hierarchy of need is often portrayed in the shape of pyramid with the largest most fundamental lave of need at the bottom and the need for self actualization at the top. The pyramid has become the de-facto way to represent the hierarchy, Maslows himself never use a pyramid to describe these levels many of his writing on the subject.

  • Psychological needsPsychological needs are the physical requirements for the human survival. If these requirement are not met the human body cannot function properly and will ultimately fail. Such as: food, clothes, etc.

  • Safety needsWith their physical need relative satisfied the individual safety take precedence and dominate behavior. Safety and security needs Include- 1. personal security 2. Financial security 3. Health and well being.

  • Esteem needsAll humans have a need to feel respected, this includes the need to have self-esteem and self respect. Esteem present the typical human desire to be accepted and valued by others. People often engage in a profession or hobby to gain recognition.

  • Love and belongingAfter psychological and safety needs are fulfilled the third level of human need is interpersonal and evolves feeling of belongingness. The need is especially strong In childhood and can override the for safety as witnessed in children who cling to abusive parents.

  • Self actualization What a man can be he must be. This quotation forms the basis of the perceived need for self actualization. This level of need refers to what a persons full potential is and the realization of that potential. Maslow describe this level as the desire to accomplish everything that one can, to become the most one can be.
