    From the Pastor. . .

    Dear Friends in Christ,

Today we celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord. We give thanks to God that he has manifested himself

at Christmas, at the visit of the Magi, at the Baptism of the Lord, and at the Wedding Feast of Cana.

It also means that we are still in the Christmas season so you can keep singing Christmas Carols!

Many years ago I took a pilgrimage to Medjugorje. This drastically changed the course of my life. I

firmly believe that our Lady interceded for me, bringing me closer to her Son, Jesus. Our Lady contin-

ues to implore all her children to find the path to Christ and to recognize His great love. I was very

moved by her message this Christmas which, although is private revelation (and therefore one does

not have to believe in it), it certainly speaks the absolute truth that God is Emmanuel, and He is with

us always. Surrender to the Love of God, surrender to Jesus in your life and you will be able to en-

dure all things. I would encourage you to pray with the words of our Lady below.

Dear children! Also today Jesus is here beside you, even when you think that you are alone,

and that light does not exist in your life. He is here and has never left you or distanced Him-

self from you. The light of His birth illuminates this world and your life. His Heart is always

open towards you, to receive your every pain, every trial, fear and need. His arms are ex-

tended towards you, that as a father, He may embrace you and tell you how important you

are for Him, how much He loves you and cares for His children.

Children, is your heart open towards Jesus? Have you completely surrendered your life into

His hands? Have you accepted Jesus as your father, to whom you can always turn and in

Him find consolation and everything you need to live true faith?

That is why, my children, surrender your hearts to Jesus and permit Him to begin to rule

your lives, because only in this way, will you accept the present and be able to face the

world in which you live today. With Jesus, every fear, suffering, and pain disappear, because

your heart accepts His will and everything that comes into your life. Jesus will give you the

faith to accept everything and nothing will distance you from Him — because He firmly

holds you by the hand and does not permit for you to distance and lose yourselves in diffi-

cult moments — because He has become the Lord of your life.

I bless you with my motherly blessing.

    In Christ,

    Msgr. Panke

    Learn more about Mustard Seed

Listen to Fr. Garvin Augustine, the Executive Director

of Mustard Seed Communities, who was recently in-

terviewed by EWTN about the organization's mission.

Fr. Garvin talks about what's at the heart of that mis-

sion and the services that are provided. Fr. Garvin also

discusses the connection between our faith and the

importance of caring for the vulnerable. He explains

how the pandemic has impacted the organization and

its operations in Africa, Central America and other

parts of the Caribbean. The executive director shares

    how people can help.

  • Inspired Words

    Everyone who breathes,

    high and low, educated

    and ignorant, young and

old, man and woman, has a

    mission, has a work. We

are not sent into this world

    for nothing; we are not

born at random; we are not

here, that we may go to

bed at night and get up in

    the morning, toil for our

    bread, eat and drink, laugh

and joke, sin when we have

    a mind and reform when

we are tired of sinning, rear

a family and die. God sees

every one of us, He creates

    every soul . . .

    FOR A PURPOSE.

    He needs, He deigns to

need, every one of us. He

has an end for each of us.

We are all equal in His

sight and we are placed in

    our different ranks and

    stations, not to get what

we can out of them for our-

    selves but to labour in

    them for Him.

As Christ has His work, we

too have ours – as He re-

joiced to do His work, we

    must rejoice in ours also.

    -St. John Neumann

Please call the St. Vincent de Paul Society

Bishop Michael Fisher was the beloved pastor of our parish from 1999 to 2005. “Fr. Mike” (as he

was known to us then) left many enduring effects on our parish. One of the most profound parts

of his legacy is the Adoration Chapel, which began under his pastoral leadership and has been a

spiritual powerhouse for our parish ever since. It seems fitting, then, that we present him with a

“spiritual bouquet” as a gift from our parish on the occasion of his installation as bishop of

Buffalo, NY, on Jan. 15, 2021, so that he will know of our prayerful support as he takes on this

great responsibility. For more information, and to participate, visit our web page at

www.saintjohnneumann.org/bishop-fisher. Sign-ups will be accepted through Sunday, Jan. 17.
