1 Getting Started
1.1 About this Document
Purpose
This Master Guide is the central starting point for the technical implementation of the SAP Screen Personas
solution. You can find cross-scenario implementation information as well as scenario-specific information in this
guide.
Note
The central starting point for the technical upgradeof your SAP solution is the Master Guide, which you
can find on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/instguides .
Use the Master Guide to get an overview of SAP Screen Personas, its software units, and its scenarios from a
technical perspective. The Master Guide is a planning tool that helps you to design your system landscape. It
refers you to the required detailed documentation, mainly:
Installation guides for single software units
SAP Notes
Configuration documentation
SAP Library documentation
The Master Guide consists of the following main sections:
Section1, Getting Started
This section explains how to use this document and related information (documentation and SAP Notes) that
is crucial to the installation of the solution.
Section2, SAP Screen Personas Overview
This section provides essential information about the supported scenarios, the installable software units, the
software component matrix, and how to plan your system landscape.
Section3, Business Scenarios of SAP
This section contains information about the supported business scenarios and processes. This section alsoprovides links to the relevant configuration documentation that is provided via SAP Solution Manager.
Section4, Solution-Wide Topics
This section contains information about the Solution Manager content for the solution.
Section5, Security Considerations
This section provides an overview of the security considerations that are specific to the SAP Screen Personas
solution.

Section 9, Release Availability Information
This section contains information about the available software releases, required base software, and other
availabilities regarding SAP Screen Personas.
Note
You can find the most current information about the technical implementation of SAP Screen Personas
and the latest installation and configuration guides on SAP Service Marketplace at
http://service.sap.com/instguides .
We strongly recommend that you use the documents available here. The guides are regularly updated.
Constraints
The business scenarios that are presented here serve as examples of how you can use SAP software in yourcompany. The business scenarios are only intended as models and do not necessarily run the way they are
described here in your customer-specific system landscape. Ensure to check your requirements and systems
to determine whether these scenarios can be used productively at your site. Furthermore, we recommend
that you test these scenarios thoroughly in your test systems to ensure they are complete and free of errors
before going live.
This Master Guide primarily discusses the overall technical implementation of SAP Screen Personas rather
than its subordinate components. This means that additional software dependencies might exist without
being mentioned explicitly in this document. You can find more information on component-specific software
dependencies in the corresponding installation guides.

2 SAP Screen Personas Overview
SAP Screen Personas 3.0 provides customers the flexibility to personalize and transform the organization-
specific SAP Dynpro and WebDynpro screens to suit their business needs. It gives business users and IT users the
ability to meet the need for rapid screen changes, delivering improved user experience and increased work
efficiency.
2.1.1 Personas Admin UI (Dynpro)
The SAP Screen Personas Admin UI is a Dynpro application for administrators of a Personas installation. Its focus
will be on mass user management to be able to support large customers.
Note
Users currently using SAP Screen Personas 2.0 can simply use the Flavor Migration feature to migrate all
the flavors from 2.0 to 3.0 versions. For more information about Flavor Migration, refer to the SAP Screen
Personas 3.0 Application Help available at help.sap.com.
2.1.2 Personas ABAP Layer
The Personas ABAP Layer is the integration point for the kernel/Basis component. All user interactions triggered
in the Personas client will be handled eventually by this component.
2.1.3 Personas Client
After a user starts the SAP GUI for HTML, the Personas Client is initialized. If a user has not authorization to
interact with Personas then no Personas UI components will be made available.
2.1.3.1 Runtime
By default, just a Personas button is visible. When this button is pressed, all available flavors are listed for the
user. In addition, the currently selected as well as the default flavor are visualized. All users who are authorized to
be in this state can switch flavors or define another flavor as default.

2.1.3.2 Flavor Management
Depending on the user's authorizations, a user can add or remove flavors from their flavor list. If a user isauthorized to modify an existing flavor, the user can share the flavor with others, delete it or switch into editing of
this flavor.
2.1.3.3 Flavor Editor
When switching into edit-mode, the editing bar is getting rendered. The editing bar contains of editing tabs which
contain groups of editing actions. When the Personas Client leaves editing, the updated flavor is sent to the server
and all changes are checked in regards to authorizations.
2.1.3.4 Theme Editor
In contrast to the (Flavor) Editor, the Theme Editor allows to change visual properties that apply to more than the
currently shown screen. For example, set background colors for all buttons to blue for all transactions. This edit-
mode still allows interacting with the screen so that a user can see the changes in different screens/transactions.
2.1.3.5 Scripting Tools
The Scripting Tools allow to record, edit, and preview/execute/validate scripts attached to a flavor.
2.2 Software Units of SAP Screen Personas 3.0
The following software units are of relevance when setting up the solution:
SAP Kernel 7.42
The solution is based on ITS (Internet Transaction Server) of SAP Kernel and hence requires SAP Kernel with
release 742 or newer. Existing systems with a 740 or 741 kernel require a kernel exchange to 742. This can be
done without downtime (via RKS = Rolling Kernel Switch). Lower kernel levels are not supported.
SAP Basis (SAP_BASIS) 7.40
The solution is an add-on and hence relies on any of the below mentioned Software components as
installation basis. Support package SP00 or 1 or 2 are not supported with Personas because they require a
738 kernel.

2.3.1 SAP Screen Personas based on HTML
Figure 1
SAP Screen Personas 3.0 consists of three fundamental layers: Client (Browser, SAP GUI for HTML), NW ABAPBasis layer and the kernel. The UI Layers as well as the Personas ABAP Layer are entirely newly developed
components specifically for SAP Screen Personas 3.0, the rest, the kernel as well as the HTML based rendering of
Dynpro screens are existing components that are already in place but needed to be extended to support SAP
Screen Personas.
2.4 Authorization and Role Concepts
SAP Screen Personas 3.0 will be enabled for a user, only when the relevant authorizations using the PFCG
transaction are provided. This is essential as without the necessary authorizations, the solution is not enabled for
