Matsiyikapisaikisom: Frog Month
April showers bring May flowers! Wow, time flies when you are busy and hav-
ing fun. Our students have been diligently working on their modules and com-
pleting their novel studies. Congratulations to our April diploma writers this
month. They have taken the initiative to work extra hard to complete their
course work ahead of schedule. We have students who have applied to various
post-secondary institutions and some who have received their acceptance let-
ter. Way to go! We look forward to many more opportunities and learning ex-
periences that our school can offer for our students. We have the “Preparing
our Home” training coming up this month. This is a four day workshop that
works on traditional approaches to being prepared in emergency or disaster
situations. Thank you to the community and family members of our students
for your continuous support.

Our Grad’s and chaperone’s attended the annual trip to Calgary for the Cinderella
Dress Project. Each girl was gifted with a dress, shoes and accessories to compli-
ment their look.
We look forward to this annual trip every year. Thank you Loreli Calf Robe for co-
ordinating this event and getting our ladies there and back.
We can’t wait to see your looks at the grad :)
We had six student from the Outreach School join in on the SEEDS leadership con-
nection group at Camp Kiwanis. They were building rapport with other students in
different school divisions and were taught leadership, confidence and how to posi-
tively engage with other students.
Kudos to our participants, Zanty Medicine Traveller, Savannah Little Light, Chris-Ann
Stimson, Raven Good Eagle, Hilary Sitting Eagle and chaperone, Teacher Lindsey Nel-
son and Denise Peterson.
Siksika Class
The students have been learning the basic words that they could use
daily. The prayer has been placed as a priority to learn by heart. I was
very proud of some of our students when the students were asked to
say the Siksika Prayer along with the students from two other Siksika
schools our students recited the prayer with pride.
Students are working on projects which were seen by the Elders that
our school invites in as resource and they were amazed.
A Siksika Language booklet has been compiled for the students and if
requested it is available. Contact myself if you would like a copy.
Again please feel free to forward your comments to me at 403-734-
3418. (Colleen Sitting Eagle)
