IFMAs education department offers a number of different opportunities throughout the year including:

Conducted study in summer of 2008 on future development trends/strategies

More than half of the respondents have taken professional development offerings in the past year. The majority have taken IFMA programs, local universities or employer in-house programs .

34. Key Findings . . .

Most respondents agreed that the materials and content offered by IFMA provided strategies they can apply to their jobs, are relevant to their careers, are valuable in advancing their careers and are comprehensive enough to fulfill their career needs.

Respondent agreement is strongest regarding how critical it is for facility managers to take courses on current issues and that participation in classes and other education programs would increase if more were offered locally.

35. Key findings about credentials...

Recognition of the CFM was at 84% with the FMP at 76%.

On a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the highest), 4.5 were satisfied with the process required to obtain the CFM.

Across a myriad of certifications, preference is highest for CFMs.
