STAFF A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR MATT

Danger, Church Under Construction.

So what's not to love about a church doing construction. We need everyone to play their part. When newcomers come in our doors, they sincerely want to know what is happening. We get to double up in offices and it brings the staff closer together. Each week we rediscover what a beautiful location we get to do ministry in. Crown of Glory is alive. Thanks for chipping in wherever you can.

A warm word of thanks from my family. Your ministry and expressions of love and care to me and my family at the loss of my father, Edwin, and mother, Shirley, and my wife Ruth's sister, Dorothy, was a tremendous strength to us. The comforting deserts and fruit served at the two funerals. The words of consolation in the hallways and entry of the church building. The quiet prayers and tender cards that you shared. The helping hands meals brought to our house. I am deeply grateful and know that kind of love and care can change the world. That is who we are and what we are to each other, and you inspire me as we move forward.

So, summer worship remains largely the same as last summer; Sunday at 9:30 a.m. as a combination of the best we have to offer as well as a 4:30 p.m. Saturday service. The council and staff thought that getting out of Saturday worship in time for whatever Saturday evening plans you might have just might be attractive to more people. Worship at whichever service fits your family schedule. We'd love to keep in a good rhythm of gratitude and grace with you throughout the summer months, beginning on Memorial Day weekend on our adjusted schedule.

Our Wednesday gatherings and community meals wrap up for summer recess in a couple of weeks. Thanks to all who have made this a great happening at COG. I so look forward to opening this even wider to the congregation and surrounding area with our newly doubled kitchen and spacious parish hall. I can see it now . . . Until then, come enjoy the delightful chaos of a congregation moving forward.

Shalom in Christ, Pastor Matthew Bersagel

A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR REGGIE “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14

Pressing On! It’s almost here; it seems like just yesterday that we had a ‘snow-day’ due to the bitter Minnesota cold! Summer is almost upon us and we’ll soon be wrapping up our program ministries. And there is plenty to celebrate! Our 3rd graders will be moving onto Connect! Our 5th graders will be looking forward to beginning their Confirmation experience while our 8th graders will be discerning what the last 3 years have meant to them in their journey of faith! We also look forward to congratulating our senior high graduates as they look to make their mark in this world! So many milestones and so many blessings to count!

As I have witnessed in these past months, I have seen so much growth and renewed life in many of our young people; Sunday school age, Connect, Confirmation and Senior High youth! You have pressed on in faith!

My encouragement to you as you look towards the future, remember that growing our faith isn’t a “one-time” thing. It doesn’t stop once Sunday school is complete. It doesn’t end when you’ve finished Connect, and it for sure does NOT end when you’ve made your public affirmation of faith on your Confirmation day. NO…rather, it’s just the beginning of a new step in your life and faith. We are encouraged in scripture to press on in our faith, whatever stage, whatever cycle, whatever season we are in or are entering into. May your milestone celebrations this spring be blessed and may you continue to press on in faith!

In Christ, Pastor Reggie Klindworth Youth and Family Ministry

WORSHIP SCHEDULE SATURDAY—5:30 p.m. Evensong is a meditative, come as you are worship service on Saturday evenings. The music is more contemporary with occasional hymns with piano and guitar. A message is provided by one of our pastors, along with prayer and Holy Communion. Fresh coffee is brewed ahead of time, so grab a cup, come into the sanctuary, and enjoy!

SUNDAY—8:30 a.m. Our traditional worship service begins at 8:30 a.m. The music is mainly traditional hymns played on the organ and other instruments. Anthems by our Chancel Choir are often included. The service follows the liturgical settings out of the Evangelical Lutheran Book of Worship. Holy Communion is provided each and every week.

SUNDAY—10:00 a.m. Our 10:00 a.m. worship service is more a blended style of worship. Servant Song, our 10:00 a.m. praise team, leads both current and familiar contemporary Christian songs as well as occasional hymns. The Chancel Choir also sings an anthem at this service. A message and Holy Communion is also included along with some liturgical aspects of the 8:30 service.

NURSERY The nursery is staffed during Saturday and Sunday worship services. If you are interested in volunteering in the nursery or have questions, please feel free to contact Sarah Hennes.

They can be dropped off at the Love INC office at 1600 Bavaria Road or on Saturdays at the FurniShare Love INC Warehouse, 2977 Water Tower Place, Chanhassen between 9:30 – Noon (except holiday weekends). Small Counter Top Microwaves are needed at our FurniShare warehouse also. There has been a few requests from our older generation to help with lawn mowing. If you would like to help with lawn mowing in the Chaska area, please contact Mary Morley at [email protected]. Great service opportunity for a small group. We will put these on our Facebook Page also. SAFE FAMILIES A new opportunity has came up as COG becomes a facilitator for members who would like to host children in need, in their own homes. Pamphlets will be available at the Welcome Desk. SafeFamilies is a program that is short term foster care, family friends/advice or babysitters for foster families. These are not county foster care, but the step before, and it's all volunteer through a Christian-based program.

Since 2005, Safe Families for Children has offered sanctuary to thousands of children, minimizing the risk for abuse or neglect and giving parents the time and tools they need to help their families thrive. The ultimate goal is to strengthen and support parents so they can become Safe Families for their own children.

You choose when to get involved and how long. E-mails are sent to you in a weekly distribution list, and you choose the situation you'd like to be involved with, or take no action. From Lori, 'My family has benefited greatly by seeing needs and having our eyes opened in new ways. We don't share our address or last name and have the option of privacy at our discretion. We've had three different placements, one for a weekend, one for two weeks and one for a month. They become part of whatever your family is doing, and all involved learn from each other. I have been educated on how many need help, even for the short term, to get back on their feet and avoid escalated situations that could be much worse without help.'
