This will be a three-day event packed with a very busy schedule that will include live surgery, a laparoscopic keynote dissecon on cadaver from the Leonardo da Vinci anatomical theatre, keynote lectures, satellite symposia, and wide space for free communicaons. Ample me will be given to discussions to allow in-depth interacons with the audience. We are also happy to offer the opportunity to aend Pre-Congress courses which will be held in Siena and Pisa on May 7 and in Florence on May 8 and will focus on skills and modern techniques in MIGS, Surgical Anatomy and Diagnosc Ultrasound. With major emphasis on the most relevant and cung-edge science and innovaon in the field of MIGS, the scienfic agenda will specifically cover the following main topics:

It aims to exchange knowledge, skills and experience between surgeons that prefer one or the other approach. Both laparoscopy and vaginal surgery are characterized by minimally invasiveness and, ideally, a pelvic surgeon should have a portfolio of surgical procedures that would include both of them. The course tries to illustrate the tips and tricks of the most common procedures of vaginal and laparoscopic procedure with a final practical part with pelvic trainers.

Laparoscopic surgery for benign and deeply infiltrative diseases represents complex challenges for pelvic surgeons. Instructors from the International School of Surgical Anatomy (ISSA) of Verona, Italy will provide participants a comprehensive overview of the pelvic anatomy and guidance on how to navigate the retroperitoneal space and structure. These approaches will help surgeons to formulate a well strategized treatment plan leading to optimal surgical outcomes.
At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to:1) Recognize the anatomical landmarks and major pelvic structures pertinent to gynecologic laparoscopy and retroperitoneal dissection for basic, intermediate and advanced procedures;2) Discuss laparoscopic surgical techniques to enter and expose avascular spaces of the pelvis, parametrial ligaments, nerves and pelvic vessels and their relations to the ureter and retroperitoneal structures;3) Review the principles of a nerve-sparing;4) Provide step-by- step dissection of the uterine artery and the pelvic ureter related to gynecologic retroperitoneal procedures (i.e. big uteri, intraligamentary myomas, deep endometriosis and gynecologic cancers).

Suturing is a turning point towards Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery. Combination of the correct stitch and knot-tying can be responsible for the success of a complex surgery. Appropriate rules make difficult things easy. The Romeo’s Gladiator Rule put suturing at the hands of all laparoscopists. The knowledge acquired by Romeo’s Gladiator School explain which knots are safe and unsafe or dangerous and how to perform them. This course provides a broad comprehension about the art of laparoscopic suturing, mixing theory and practice.

Following the principles taught in the International School of Surgical Anatomy (ISSA), this hands-on cadaveric course will provide a step-by-step surgical approach to the pelvic viscera, retroperitoneal avascular spaces and pelvic ureters. Emphasis will be put upon identi-fying anatomical landmarks, including surgical principles and techniques to enter the retroperitoneal avascular spaces.Instruction on techniques for gentle tissue handling to avoid bleeding, proper traction, counter-traction, sharp and blunt dissections while preventing vascular, urinary, bowel and nervous complications. Special care will be given to nerve-sparing techniques during laparoscopicdissection, with demonstration of main pathways of visceral and somatic pelvic innervation. This course includes cadaveric specimen with intact uteri and cervix using laparoscopic instrumentation.
At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to:1) Recognize the anatomical landmarks and major pelvic structures pertinent to gynecologic laparoscopy and retroperitoneal dissection;2) Apply laparoscopic surgical techniques to enter and expose the avascular spaces of the pelvis, parametrial ligaments, nerves and pelvic vasculature and their relations to the ureter and intraperitoneal structures;3) Illustrate the step-by-step dissection of the pelvic ureter and pelvic-nerves related to the different gynecological procedures and nerve-sparing techniques for gynecologic cancers and endometriosis surgery.

As our understanding of robot-assisted surgery has grown, so have the applications, technological innovations and potential complications. To optimize surgeon performance and patient outcomes, this 4 hour hands-on workshop is designed to provide attendees with an intensive in-depth analysis of the various surgical components of today’s currently used robotic surgical platforms. Subsequently the appropriate gynecolo-gic applications will be reviewed along with their respective surgical nuances. An emphasis will be made on anatomical relationships as well as dissection and suturing techniques relative to specific procedures performed within a cadaveric model.
Learning Objectives:At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:1) Perform safe peritoneal access and strategic trocar placement during robotic surgery;2) demonstrate safe and efficient docking approaches3) acquire increased knowledge of retroperitoneal pelvic and aortic anatomy4) acquire various tips and tricks for managing and minimizing the risks of complications in robot-assisted laparoscopy5) formulate strategies for navigating difficult pelvic anatomy.

This session provides a video-based experience in ultra-radical minimally invasive surgery for gynecologic oncology. Experienced minimally invasive gynecologic surgeons will present and discuss their videos demonstrating their techniques for resection of gynecologic malignancies which on first view appear impossible to perform by minimally invasive surgery. This will be a very interactive session with tips and tricks provided, which will help you to successfully approach complex cases. Even if you don’t “push the envelope”, this video experience and the provided tips and tricks will help you further refine your own techniques.
