Principal’s Message
Here we are at Week 9!
This term has flown by with so many exciting events and
opportunities for our school community to get together.
Thank you all for contributing to such a wonderful feel to
our school as we walk through the gates each day
Thank you to every parent or carer who has made the time
to come in or make contact for Parent/Teacher Interviews.
Having a strong partnership between school and home
really helps our children reach their goals faster.
This week our Year 4 students get to experience high
school for a day at Callaghan College Waratah Technology
Campus – what an exciting day it will be for them. I’m
looking forward to hearing all about it on Thursday!
On Friday 21st September we have ‘Dress Like a Farmer’
Day to raise funds for our farmers who are affected so
badly by the drought. Thank you to Mrs Lendich for
organising this fantastic event. Remember there is still
time to donate non-perishable food at the office for the
food drive.
Just a reminder that the P&C Meeting will be held next
Tuesday 25th September from 6-7.30pm in the staffroom.

through it with you.
Mayfield East PS is a wonderful place for weddings this year! We
have already had two so far. Mr Dornan and Mrs Bailey most
recently, with two more to go this year. This Saturday it’s our
wonderful Mr Harrison’s turn to get married which is very
exciting! Congratulations Mr Harrison – on behalf of MEPS we
wish you and Paul all the very best in your upcoming wedding.
We know it will be amazing!
Finally as we come into the warmer weather with Daylight
Saving and the holidays fast approaching our children are
playing outside on the streets and at parks more often. As part
of our Child Protection program we talk with our students about
not speaking to people they don’t know. It would be helpful if
this message could also be reinforced at home. It’s also an
opportunity to remind our children who they can go to for help
if they need it.
I hope you have a wonderful week!
Your very proud principal,
Robyn Christie
Garden Working Bee – This Sunday
We are having a garden working bee to help in our
school garden. We have a few larger scale jobs in
the garden which the students can't complete
during class time.
When? Sunday 23rd September at 10am
Anytime you could spare would be a great help!
Whether it's 10 minutes or 2 hours!
Please bring along (if you have these) - gardening gloves—
secateurs—garden fork. Many hands make light work!
From the Library Just a reminder that children need to
have a library bag and no outstanding
loans before they are able to borrow
during library time. Class library times
are listed below:-
Wednesday: 5/6P, K/1C and 3/4B
Thursday: 3/4H, 1/2G, 2/3B & KH
Friday: 1/2T, 4/5R, KB & 5/6H
Library bags don’t need to be elaborate,
just a recyclable shopping bag is fine.
This is to protect books from drink
bottles and food etc. in their school bag.
Please feel free to talk to me in the
library either before or after school
(Wed/Thurs/Fri) if you are unable to
locate a book at home. Thank you for
your support.

They tried their very best and were a credit to our school. Well done!
Mrs Munro Co-ordinator
Maths Enrichment Groups The pupils in the Maths Enrichment are continuing to work hard on their goals. Brandon has informed me this week that he now knows Pi to 70 decimal places! Well done all of you and keep up the hard work.
This week we are designing maths games. They had to decide their topic, audience, rules, format and resources needed. They have come up with some interesting plans and I hope to add some photos of their designs soon!

P&C News NEXT MEETING:
Tuesday 25th September @ 6pm
Digital Media Festival: held at Callaghan
College. Each school hosts a food stall for this. If
catering/cooking/food is your thing, we are looking
for helpers and a co-ordinator for this event. Some
early simple ideas are popcorn, nachos or hotpot.
Fun Run: held at the school. This is a huge, fun
and colourful outdoor event. Some volunteers will
be needed to help our co-ordinator Magda.
We’d love some more keen folks to join with us in
helping with these events. If organising or events are
your thing OR if you have some time and would love
to help out at the school let us know at:
via the Facebook page inbox
Holiday chicken carers It’s that time again! We are looking for holiday chicken carers. If you are interested in helping these holidays, we would love the assistance. If you are a regular holiday carer and want to assist or if you would like to try for the first time please let me know. I’ll make up a roster this week so our chickies will have a lovely holiday too. My contact is [email protected] Last week we were discussing sun safety and we started making a sundial for our garden. The weather is warming up so it’s really important to remember your hat for gardening each week. Here’s a picture of our beautiful first broccoli head, one lucky harvest stall shopper got to buy it last week. This week is a cooking week but it will be a bit modified as we will have parent teacher interviews in the kitchen. I’m thinking of some outdoor cooking ideas. if you could spare some to time to help during your child’s cooking lesson it would be much appreciated.
