Wisdom of the Department ….Rural India has emerged as the global marketing hub. Country side citizens have formed the solid bottom of the pyramid. Corporate sitting in the air conditioned glass rooms are twisting their brain muscles for profiteering business plans to be executed successfully on the rural folks. The swift dynamism in the lives and styles of the village dwellers and their potential economies with multidimensional restructuring have already seen the automobile multinationals opening their dealer’s outlets, investment bankers inaugurating their branches and super markets and malls coming up at taluka levels. The sons of the soil educated in the management fundamentals in the synonymous surroundings and trained in the modern management practices through advanced pedagogical methods that our department is engaged in, stand out to be the obvious right choice of the recruiters of management graduates.

Our location, in the rural area, is by default but our intentions are by designs. We have added many more dimensions significant for true management education. We signed an MoU with the MSME-DI (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute), Nagpur under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises for imparting to our students One-Month Business Skills Development Programme (BSDP) besides conducting 45-Days Entrepreneurial Skills Development Programme (ESDP) for educated unemployed men and women of the area and Managerial Skills Development Programme (MSDP) for working executives and entrepreneurs of local industries. Community-based learning projects have been conceived and are pursued by students in small groups of four each to sensitize them with the community needs. SEBI, Mumbai sponsored series of Financial Education Workshops being conducted by the department for different target groups is another feather in its cap. The organization of PARISHKRITI �0�� by our students as a State level event by procuring approximately Rs. �.5 lakhs of market sponsorship by students themselves to conduct ten varied events involving about �00 plus student participants and distributing prizes worth over Rs. 40,000 was a sheer display of their confidence and caliber groomed in the department.

Our efforts towards introduction of credit-based curriculum by our affiliating university with effect from the session �0�� – �0�3 has helped us bring at par with curriculum design of the top most management institutions. One of our alumni, Dr. Devesh Kumar Sharma, has been elevated to the position of Vice-President and Co-Distribution Head in Barclays Bank, UAE, Dubai which adds another feather to our cap.

We place before the corporate world our �7th batch of MBA grads with a brief about their credentials contained in the subsequent pages of this brochure for test and trial, and they stand it out in continuance of the tradition set out by their predecessors - our alumni – some of whom are excelling in their foreign assignments.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTION

The Institute was established on �3rd August �983 as a flagship Institute with the blessings of our Divine Source of Inspiration Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj, Shegaon. The institution is affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati, recognized by AICTE, New Delhi, accredited by NBA, New Delhi and NAAC Bangalore and ISO 900�:�000 certified. It is also a Network Institution selected along with VNIT, Nagpur, under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) Govt. of India, New Delhi. Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering, Shegaon has set up a tradition of Producing eminent engineers and managers who are competent and committed to the high professional standards in the respective field. DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AND RESEARCH (D.B.A.R.)The Department of Business Administration and Research conducts Two Year Full Time MBA Degree Course since �994 with an annual intake capacity of 60 students. The students are selected through the Common Entrance Test Examination (CET) conducted by the DTE, Govt. of Maharashtra. Besides the structured curricula, the Department strives to inculcate such skills and values which enable the students to foster leadership qualities, intellectual dynamism, creative abilities and above all, with the right kind of attitude that are essential to assure excellence in any field of business and management. With its religious affinity, the Institution always emphasizes on the moral, ethical and spiritual development of the managers of tomorrow.

The Department has initiated separate Leadership Development Programs to impart the skills of leadership amongst the students through practical experience. It provides all possible infrastructure facilities as well as encourages the students to organize a series of programs like Quiz Contest, Visual Advertisement Designing Contest, Workshops, Symposia, etc, throughout the session so as to unearth the latent and potent leadership qualities of the future managers in different fields.

Personality Development Programs:The Department has introduced Personality Development Program through Extempore, Group Discussion, Role-Plays, Seminar, Mock Interview, etc. programs being organized by the students with active cooperation and guidance of the faculty members. Under these programs, emphasis is given to the development of communication skills, decision- making skills, and presence of mind. Also the sessions on Soft Skill Development as well as Effective Public Speaking are conducted at regular intervals to groom the overall Personality of the Students by renowned faculties from Industry.

Industry Institute Interaction Program:To expose the students with the actual industrial environment, apart from industrial tours and visits, students undergo summer training programs of minimum 6 weeks after the end of Second Semester. The students are required to submit reports about their experiences at the end of such training. Further, practicing managers, prominent industrialists and management consultants are invited frequently to provide the students an opportunity to interact with them. A separate department called IIP cell was recently established in coordination of AICTE, New Delhi to look after the Industry- Institute partnership program in the field of engineering and management.

Yoga Activity:A healthy mind and body always strive for excellence either in Business or day-to-day activity. Also considering the nature of Works in relation to stress and tension of future manager, it is quite necessary to have a practice of yoga. The activities include Yogic practices, Asanas, Paranayam, Meditation, Kriyas, Counseling on Mind Concentration & Stress Reduction etc.

Sports & Games Activities:Both indoors and outdoors games facilities are available in the campus. Various in-door facilities are: Badminton Courts, Table Tennis Hall, Chess, Carom, & Health Club etc. The outdoor facilities are Hand Ball Courts, Foot Ball Grounds, Volley Ball Courts, Ball Badminton Court, Cricket Ground, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Tennis Court, Basket Ball Court and Running & Athletics Tracks etc.
