THE WING-T JET PACKAGE

As the head football coach at MorgantownHigh School,lam representing he ootball staf f andour athleticdepart-ment. We are ocatedinMorgantown, West Virginia. Weinstalled the wing-T seven years ago, and we have beenin th es ta te Playoffs he ast sixyears.In1998, we werethe Sta te Runner-Llp, and in 2000, w e won the Sta teChampionship.

Irr 1997, w e nstal led the JET SERIES (spl it-el id at -tacking series) because teams were loading up theirdefense t o he tig ht end side to s top the buck sweep.Once w e we re successful in attacking the perimetert o he weakside, w e forced teams t o defend both hetight-end and the sp lit-end side. Since our ins tallationof the je t sweep series, our regular season record s38 wins and 2 losses and our overall record s 46 winsand 5 loses.

The Je t Sweep is an outstanding compliment t o

the already hard t o defend wing-T. Today, Iwant tocover our wing-T J e t package. Iwill go fast soIcancover the en tire package.That way, you can get a bet -ter idea of wh at w e are trying t o accomplish.

We can run dur Je t package fro m eight differentformations. W e have ten running plays and six passplays wi th this package.I willshow the plays from acouple of formations and against a fe w dif ferent de-fenses tha t will give you a be tte r feel for wh at w eare doing. Iwill go fast, so stay w it h me.

Our base forma.l:ion is wi th a wing-T t o th e t igh tend, a slo t t o lie split-end side, and one rur ~r~ ingack.We call this se t our aceformation.The fullback heelsare set a t four yards. The wingback is one-yard wideand one-yard deep from the tig ht end. The tailback ist w o yards-by-two yards on the tackle.

We wan t th e wingbackand tailbackin a two-poin tstance, slightly angled nside.They aregoing obe block-ing down nside most of the time, or they are goiqg to unthe Je t route.

We see a lot o f 3 - and 6-techniques to t he tight-end side. On the split-end side, we see the 2- and 5-techniques. If they are play-ing cloud coverage, the SE wi ll crack on the scrapingLB, and the SG will kick out on the conta in player. OurQB wi ll waggle or b oo t according to our game plan.
