Close to 2000 spectators watched the Boilermakers compete at Schwartz Tennis Center this season. It was

great to see the Greater Lafayette community and the Purdue University Greeks get behind the team. Their

support made a difference during several home

matches. Over 250 fans in attendance created an electric atmosphere during a decisive 4-1 win over

Indiana on March 8. Our February 20 match against Marquette saw the biggest crowd of the season with 271

people in attendance. Boilermakers won 6-1 that day.

Our 3rd Annual Greek Challenge was the closest one to

date with Kappa Delta and Delta Gamma tied in the standings until the very last match of the season. In the

end the KD’s had the edge and claimed the title. Our team hosted the Kappa Deltas for a trophy ceremony

during the annual team banquet in front of a packed

Buchannan Club at Ross Ade Stadium. We would like to thank all the participants for their support and we hope

to see you back at Schwartz in the upcoming season.

It was a historic season for Gergely Madarasz. He has been on campus since January 2015 but could not

compete due to NCAA rules until this semester. Once given the opportunity to play, he has made the most of it.

With an overall record of 20-3 and 8-1 at the number one

spot in Big Ten play, he has become the third Boilermaker in the program history to qualify for the NCAA singles

tournament. Other accolades in his first semester include:

Unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection

    Academic All-Big Ten

    ITA Scholar-Athlete

    ITA All-Academic Team

    Team Most Valuable Player Award

    Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award

It has been a busy summer for the

Industrial Management major and soon to be senior Ricardo Medinilla. During the

first two weeks of June he competed in two ITF future tournaments in Mexico

reaching the round of 16 both times.

Each week he had to win three matches in the qualifying tournament to reach the

main draw. His run included five wins against players with current ATP World

rankings, and a stunning upset of a top-500 player in the world. He is currently

holding a 33-13 singles record for the

    year. Boiler Up!
