DESCRIPTION

The Evolution WCT Mechanical Setting Tool is a dependable tool for setting cement retainers and cast iron bridge plugs. They are now available in drag block or bow spring styles. With a built-in snap latch and stinger seal, these tools will latch into a retainer with set-down weight and release with upstrain or right-hand turn.

    10. RotateRetainertomake -upontoControlLatch.(LeftHandThread).

    11. InstallRotationalLockScrew(s)inhole(s)inControlLatchandsecure. RunningInAndSettingMechanically

    Duringrunningin,caremustbeexercisedtopreventright-handrotationfrombeingtransmittedtotheRetainer.

    NOTE: Asaprecaution,oneleft-handrotationshouldbemadeeveryvetotenstands.

    1.Afterreachingsettingdepth,pickuptwofeettoprovideslackwhichwillallowthecontrolnuttorotatefreely.

    2.Rotatetenturnstotheright(atthetool)tothreadthecontrolnutupwardandfreethecontrolsleeve.

    3.Lowerthetoolbacktosettingdepth.Thisaction,combinedwiththerestrainingforceofthedragpads,pullsthesettingsleevefromovertheupperslipassembly.Theradialsprings,attachedinsidetheupperslipsegmentforcetheslipsoutagainstthecasing.Atthesametimetheretainingsleeveispulledoofthedog,un-lockingthestingersubbodyfromthecontrollatch.

  • 4.TocompletethesettingoftheRetainerorBridgePlugpullatleasttheminimumtensionshowninthechartbelow.Slackoanequivalentamountonthetoolandreapplytensionholdingforatleastaminute.Thetubingmaybetestedatthispointbypullingaslighttensiontoclosethesleevevalve.Theremaybetimeswhenjunkintheholemaypreventthefullreleaseofthedogfromthestingersubbodyandtherebypreventactuationofthevalve.Shouldthisoccur,asindicatedbytestingthetubing,alternatelypickupandslackothetubing.Thisactionwillcamthedogoutofthegrooveinthestingersubbodyandallowfullcontrolmovement.Thesleevevalveis operatedwith2"ofmovementattheretainer,uptocloseanddowntoopen.

    5.ToreleasethesettingtoolfromtheRetainer,pickuptoclosethevalve.Holdingaslighttension,apply300to400ft-lb(Size45 -47OneShearScrew)or600 -800ft-lb(Size 49upTwoShearScrews)ofrighthandtorquetothetubingordrillpipe.Thiswillsheartherotationallockscrewsandallowthecontrollatch,withtenadditionalrighthandturns(atthetool),tobeunscrewedfromtheRetainer.6.Afterreleasingf romtheRetainerrotationally,aset-downweightof3,000to5,000lbswillre-latchthesettingtoolandan8,000to10,000lbs.tensionwillunlatch.ThestingerwillremainsealedinCementRetainerSealBoreaslongasthesnap -outforceisnotexceeded.

    NOTE: TheCementRetainerBodyismadeofareadilydrillablematerial.EachtimethesettingtoolissnappedoutoftheRetainer,thesnap -inandsnap-outvalueswilldecreaseslightlyuntiltheyreachapproximately2,500lbs(snap -in)and5,000lbst o6,000lbs(snap -out).ThispatternwilloccurwitheachRetainerrun.Controlofthevalveismaintainedbysettingdowntoopenandbypickinguptoclose.ThecontroldistanceintheRetaineris2".
