Coach’s Comments: For the Week of June 7 we went 1-3. We beefed up our schedule by adding Estherville Lincoln Central to the already busy week of three conference opponents of Sioux Central, East Sac County, and Manson Northwest Webster. The Tuesday, June 8th game versus Estherville was a 5-3 game deep into the game with just a couple of runs within striking distance, but it slid away at the end with a final score of 15-4. Brody Simington had a quality start on the mound for his first pitching appearance of the year. Owen DeMoss made his Varsity debut with an inning pitched/ For Conference games: On Monday, June 7 the Titans got roughed up in a 14-2 loss versus Sioux Central, a quality 2A Conference opponent. Cormick Currans pitched in relief of starter Dalton Young. Currans faced 7 batters in two innings pitched with 4 strikeouts. On Wednesday, versus East Sac County in Sac City, the Titans gave up a quick 7 runs in the first two innings with errors, and then shut them down for just 4 the rest of the game to go on to win 11-10. Cade Stearns was excellent on the mound despite the score as he pitched well and to his spots. Currans returned to the mound for another successful relief appearance. Currans was also aggressive on the bases with 3 stolen bases on the day. On Friday, versus Manson Northwest Webster, Nolan Darr had another quality start holding the opponent to a 3-1 score in the 5th. More errors opened the flood gates with a 7-2 final. This week has the Titans playing Monday, Wednesday, and Friday respectively versus Storm Lake St. Mary’s in Storm Lake, West Bend Mallard in Ruthven, and Newell- Fonda in Fonda. Nolan Darr was on the mound for the Titans against Manson Northwest Webster on Friday as he struck out 7 batters – but the Titans had trouble finding the ball at bats and dropped a 7 to 2 game. Young pitching the final inning striking out 1 and giving up 1 hit.

This week the 2 and 6 Titans were scheduled to play Storm Lake St. Mary’s at Storm Lake on Monday, home in Ruthven tonight at 7:00 p.m. for a varsity only game with West Bend-Mallard, then on the road to Newell-Fonda on Friday night.

Owen DeMoss made his Varsity debut with an inning pitched/

got roughed up in a 14-2 loss versus Sioux Central, a quality 2A Conference opponent.

Mary’s in Storm Lake, West Bend Mallard in Ruthven, and Newell-Fonda in Fonda.

Nolan Darr was on the mound for the Titans against Manson Northwest Webster on Friday as he struck out 7 batters – but the Titans had trouble finding the ball at bats and dropped a 7 to 2 game.

across the United States. ‘Shirts and Skins’ features Pop, Classic Rock (60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s), Funk, Blues, and Classic/Modern Country. You don’t want to miss this show from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of Gowrie and Main Street (near the American Legion).

Comprised of seasoned veteran performers from some of the most popular bands throughout Twin Cities and the Midwest, Shirts & Skins represents the utmost in musicianship and professionalism. The band features a rotating set of two dynamic female lead singers, backed by a very solid core of talented musicians on drums, bass, and guitar, as well as electric fiddle and keyboard. Their broad instrumentation produces a versatile, full sound. Additionally, because every member of the band also sings, they are able to incorporate rich vocal harmonies and seamlessly transition between musical styles. Come enjoy and help support your Ruthven Fire Department.

Then on Sunday it is time to relax in the air-conditioning at Lost Island Lutheran Church to the music of Glenn Henriksen. Glenn is from Armstrong and is a versatile pianist and organist. Glenn's lifetime experience in many musical genres has enabled him to develop a unique musical style, resulting in one-of-a-kind improvised arrangements. Enjoy listening to Glenn then plan to stay for the Maidrite and ice cream and pie supper to end a full weekend of BBW activities.
