Social Media-Driven ProgramsCo-learning with students worldwideShort-Form Penpal ProgramWe discovered that while girls across the world are interested in getting to know one another, posting their letters to the Internet felt intrusive. So this year, we’re implementing a penpal program that gives them what they asked for: A short-form question-and-answer platform which they can use to communicate, connect, and learn from each other.
Poetry CampaignWe engage students and our social media community in self-expression via poetry to support girls’ sponsorships and aspirations worldwide. Last year, we sponsored a girl in South Sudan by selling Poetry Month e-cards, and in 2012, we’ll collaborate with girls we sponsor around the world to publish an anthology. Local poets and students will perform their words aloud at a Poetry Night fundraiser in April, and proceeds from the book and event will sponsor more girls.
