IT’S EASY. Simply download the latest version of the SCU Mobile Banking app. Then, load your SCU MEMBER CARD® into your NFC-enabled phone and you are ready to go! No need to key in a PIN or take a card from your wallet.

A wide-screen TV might entice you. A tropical beach might beckon. Or, consider these top tips on how you can spend your tax return.

• Add to your emergency fund. Set aside enough cash to cover six months of expenses, just in

case the unexpected happens.

• Pay down credit cards and other high interest debt. You’ll save money on interest charges and increase your

monthly cash flow.

• Jump start next year’s RRSP. Contributing early allows you to take advantage of all those

extra months of tax-free growth.

• Invest in a Tax-Free Savings Account. Growth or earnings in a TFSA are 100% tax free.

The 2017 contribution limit is up to $5,500.

• Pay down your mortgage. Lump sum payments on your outstanding principal will save

significant dollars in interest charges over the long term.

• Save for a child’s education. Invest in a Registered Education Savings Plan on behalf of a child or

grandchild and you’ll qualify for a government-sponsored Canada Education Savings Grant of between 20-24% of the contribution (to a maximum of $600, depending on your income level).

Remember, how you spend your money today will have a significant impact on your future. Talk to a Credential® Wealth Management Consultant for advice on how to get your tax refund working for you.

Are you looking to build a new deck to enjoy your outdoor space with family and friends? Or, perhaps this summer you are looking for your first or next home? SCU is pleased to introduce online applications to streamline the process of your loan, line of credit, or mortgage application! You’ll still enjoy the exemplary service

we are committed to giving our members, all with the added convenience of getting the process started online.

Visit www.scu.mb.ca/apply today to start the conversation!

Summer projects just got easier.

You are approached by someone you suspect is a fraudster, in person or by email. The good news is that you’ve already taken the first step by recognizing a potential scam. The second step is rejecting it. It’s equally important to report suspected scams to the Competition Bureau or one of its partners. Be a scam-buster. Help the Government of Canada’s Competition Bureau gather the evidence needed to stop criminals from defrauding others.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP:

• Take note of the name used by the person who approached you, what they were trying to get you to do, and when it happened.

• If it was by telephone, write down the phone number.• If it was online, make a print-out or take a screen shot of the

webpage, particularly pages that promote the product or service, any terms and conditions, and payment information.

• Try and get an exact copy of the webpage address.• If contacted by email, save a copy and take note of

the IP address.

The Competition Bureau urges Canadian consumers and businesses to take action and report fraud. It’s easy, confidential, and you will be helping to make a difference in the lives of others. Visit www.competitionbureau.gc.ca to learn more. (Excerpt from Mar. 28, 2017 article from the Competition Bureau of Canada)

Don't let fraudsters get away with it.
