Adult anglers (16 years of age or older) had to possess a valid Pennsylvania fishing license and a current trout/salmon permit and be accompanied by a youth angler (less than 16 years of age) who had a Mentored Youth Fishing Permit or Voluntary Youth Fishing License. A youth angler had to be accompained by an adult angler when participating. For every voluntary youth license sold, the Commission received approximately $5 in federal revenue from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service’s Sport Fish Restoration Act program. Youth anglers and their adult mentors got an early start on trout fishing on Saturday, March 28. This was the first of two Mentored Youth Trout Days offered this year by the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission.

Adult anglers (16 years of age or older) had to possess a valid Pennsylvania fishing license and a current trout/salmon permit and be accompanied by a youth angler (less than 16 years of age) who had a Mentored Youth Fishing Permit or Voluntary Youth Fishing License. Regional Opening Day of Trout

April 4 (18 Southeastern Counties)

The April 4 regional opening day of trout marked the beginning of trout season in Pennsylvania. The 18 counties open April 4 included: Adams, Berks, Bucks, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Perry, Philadelphia, Schuylkill and York. The regular opening day for trout statewide opened April 18. Licenses and buttons can be purchased on the Commission’s website at www.GoneFishingPa.com.
