Agatha is Missing is a fun- filled-interactive murder mystery in which actress Prudence Wright Holmes plays Ace Detective, Miss Clarissa Marbles as she tries to solve the real-life disappearance of Agatha Christie in 1926. The audience plays all the other characters and everyone is a suspect. Then they vote on whodunnit and a prize is given for the best answer. Gunshots ring out, screams are heard in the night and a rollicking good time is had by all. Prudence Wright Holmes has worked on Broadway in the show Happy End with Meryl Streep and has portrayed a nun in Sister Act I and II with Whoopi Goldberg. She also worked Agatha is Missing! The workshop will focus on the seven essential ele-ments of successful books. These include starting the novel with a powerful kicker and including the protago-nist’s flaws and poverties. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss their own work and how it relates to the essential elements of novel writing. Each member of the group will be given the chance to

Israel Putnam, Hero of the American Revolution

Leonard Bernstein, An American Treasure

Bernstein was the most gifted, famous, popular and successful musician produced by America. He was a virtuoso pianist and conductor, a composer of music ranging from Broad-way musicals to the classi-cal repertory, an educator, a lecturer, an author and a TV personality. There was

very little he couldn't do extremely well. 2018 is the centenary of Bernstein's birth and it is a good time to celebrate this American treasure. Hear details from his life and excerpts from his musical background by Jeffrey Engel, Professor of

Music at Northwestern Community College on Wednesday, April 4 at 1:00 pm in the Meriden Public Library. All are welcome to this free program sponsored by Castle Craig Adult Learning Center.

A colorful figure of 18th century America, Israel Putnam (1718-1790) played a key role in both the French and Indian War and the American Revolu-tionary war. In this presentation on Tuesday, April 10 at 1:00

pm in the Library, you will learn of his close relation-ships with Aaron Burr, Alexander Hamilton, and John and Abigail Adams. Learn more about the life of a revolutionary whose seniority in the continental Army was second only to that of George Washington.

Robert Hubbard, author and retired Professor, Albertus Magnus College will present this program. All are welcome to this free program sponsored by Castle Craig Adult Learning Center.

Bunty’s War (Surviving the bombing in England

during World War II

Join us at 1:00 pm on April 13 at the Meriden Public Library to hear Ida Greene discuss her book documenting her experi-ences during World War II. In Bunty's War, Ida Greene tells the true story from her diaries as a young schoolgirl growing to womanhood in World War II England.

It is a record of horror and courage, despair and determination, cruelty and kindness. Bunty's life is turned upside down by wartime living in her London suburb, over-shadowed by the constant threat of annihilation from the skies. But the reader also shares her humorous

adventures, as she juxta-poses them in her diaries with the progressing events of the war. The book ends with the joy of victory in Europe and meeting the love of her life. All are welcome to this free program sponsored by Castle Craig Adult Learning Center

under the big top on Monday, April 16 at 1:00 pm in the Griffin Room. He was there for the recent final performance of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Fear not - the circus is alive and well and waiting for you!

Fake News, Unprofessional Journalists & a

Disgusted Electorate

Lisa Moody, Professor at Middlesex Community College will discuss “Fake news, unprofessional jour-nalists and a disgusted electorate” on Wednesday, April 18 at 1:00 pm in the Griffin Room. Fake news is not a fake

thing. Journalists are supposed to be unbiased and deal with only facts. Far too many aren't and don't. Politicians care more about campaigning than governing and use fake news and biased journalists to their advantage. No wonder Americans distrust

and dislike their govern-ment. What's at stake? Just our democracy. All are welcome to this free program sponsored by Castle Craig Adult Learn-ing Center.

The Eastern Coyotes in Connecticut

Paul Coburn, Master Wild-life conservationist, will present the program “The Eastern Coyotes in CT” on Wednesday, April 25 at 1:00 pm in the Griffin Room. This presentation focuses

on the history of coyotes in Connecticut, which includes an overview of coyote habitat, diet, behavior, and reproduc-tion. It also provides practical recommendations for optimum coexistence with

our coyote population. Coyote artifacts are shared with the audience. All are welcome to this free program sponsored by Castle Craig Adult Learning Center.
