    Metacognition

From the Module in Metacognition, I learned thet we engage in metacognitive

Activities everyday. Metacognition enables us to be successul learners and has

associated with intelligence.Metacognition reers to higher order o thinkingwhich

involves active control over the cognitive rocess engaged in learning.Activities

such as lanning how to aroach a given learning task, monitoring comrehension

and evaluating rogress toward the comletiono a task are metacognitive in

nature.Metacognition lays a critical role in successul learning. It is imortant to

study metacognitive activity and develoment to determine how students can be

taught to better aly their cognitive resources through metacognitive control.I

have learned also that teachers lay an imortant role in the understanding o the

students. !ithout them students will not reali"e the value o education in their

lie .Also encouragement is needed in order to sustain the ersistence o a student

    to study.

told them while in children '/ and above made some clari>cations to me regarding

to the seEuence o the story that their teachers told them and I told to them.

). 7onsider the older childrens resonses to the Euestions about memory an

reading. #iven their resonses, how well do schools seem to suort children

develoing metacognitive strategies or memory and reading1 9id the children havea sense o which way they learn best1 9o they seem to think that teachers hel

them with this1 3ow e@ective do schools seem to see teachers being helul in

    these areas1

Answer: 8chools are doing very well in terms o suorting children develoing

metacognitive strategies or memory and reading.=hey told me that every morning

their teachers are conducting a reading session where their reading skills will be

enhanced.=hey learn easily when the teacher lets them elore in the discussions

and by answering some alications that can be a basis i they really learn and

understand the lessons. =he teachers really hel them a lot because i the teachers

are not really good in teaching and in discussing the toics students will not easilycomrehend. According to them their teachers are assigning ecellent students

everyday to guide and teach their average student learners in reading big books,

story books, maga"ines and other reading materials. ?course children seem to see

teachers being helul because students see so much encouragement coming to

the teacher thatDs why they are encourage to study and strive or imrovement.
