The European School system
“The European Schools is a system of common education based on
harmonized programs which allow students from different Member
States to be educated in their mother tongue, yet at the same time
allows students of different nationality and of different languages to get
to know one another and respect one another” Jacques Delors.
Bélgica: Bruselas I, Bruselas II, Bruselas III y Mol.
España: Alicante.
Italia: Varese.
Luxemburgo: Luxemburgo I y Luxemburgo II.
Países Bajos: Bergen.
Reino Unido: Culham.
“Educated side by side,
untroubled from infancy by
divisive prejudices, acquainted
with all that is great and good in
different cultures, it will be borne
in upon them as they mature that
they belong together.” Jean Monnet
“Instilling the European ideal in
our children in such a way that it
comes alive in their everyday
experience is without doubt the
finest and surest way to ensure
lasting peace which alone can
bring the Europe that so many
before us have dreamed of and
that we now have the opportunity
to build”

A wide range of Science and
Humanities subjects
Our approach to learning focuses on
the practical.
Pupils work on cross-curricular projects
combining subjects.
We encourage them to be more aware of
their own learning and to become
autonomous pupils.
It is designed to make the entire
curriculum accessible to the pupils
experiencing difficulties in one or
other area of learning and who,
despite internal differentiation in
class and their own best efforts,
fail to reach the standard required by
the European Schools’ curriculum.
Learning Support Programme
Multilingual education in a
multicultural environment
Children of different native languages and
nationalities are educated from the age of 4
to the end of Secondary education.
From Primary school entry, pupils are
taught a second language and many leave
school being fluent in three or four
languages.
Our teachers are native speakers provided
by the EU member states.
An extensive ICT and
multimedia infrastructure
ICT permeates all curriculum delivery.
Pupils and teachers are encouraged to use
the latest technologies.
We are convinced that in the next few years
innovation in pedagogy will be closely
related to the use of e-learning technologies.
Study rooms and library under the
supervision of pedagogical advisors
During lesson-free periods, secondary pupils can
work in a comprehensive library. They can consult
reference books, periodicals, watch multimedia
publications, use the Internet…
A qualified librarian is able to assist with their
research. The library also has a borrowing service.
They can also study more independently in the
designated study and multi-media rooms under the
supervision of pedagogical advisors.
Extracurricular activities, events
and school trips.
•Pupil exchanges with other
European Schools.
•Institutional activities: MEC,
Science Symposium, Eurosport, …
•Official residential school trips in
years 4 and 6
•…
The diploma pupils receive on
successful graduation is
recognized in all universities of
the European Union and in
many universities overseas.

COMPETENCIAS CLAVE PARA EL APRENDIZAJE PERMANENTE
Un Marco de Referencia Europeo
Algunas cuestiones terminológicas
-Adquisición / Aprendizaje.
-Método(logía)
Adquisición
y
Aprendizaje
“There are two ways of developing ability in second
languages.
‘Aquisition’ is a subconscious process identical in all
important ways to the process children utilize in
acquiring their first language, while ‘learning’ is a
conscious process that results in ‘knowing about’ the
language”
“Monitor Theory”. Stephen Krashen.
“Comprehensible Input”. Que el mensaje pueda ser
comprendido
Filtro afectivo. Factores de motivación, emocionales
y de auto-confianza.
“Input Hypothesis” Stephen Krashen. n
Condiciones necesarias para la
adquisición / aprendizaje
Los procesos de adquisición y
aprendizaje NO son independientes.
El aprendizaje / adquisición de una
lengua ya sea L1 o L2 es más efectivo
cuando ambos procesos son
complementarios y coincidentes.

Enfoques estructuralistas-
conductivistas
realizar trabajos reales. El centro de atención se fija cada
vez más en:
a) El individuo, sus características personales y sus
procesos de aprendizaje.
b) La “tarea” a realizar.
Content and Language
Integrated Learning
CLIL
CLIL is a dual-focused educational
approach in which an additional
language is used for the learning
and teaching of both content and
language.
Mobility, both physical and virtual, is
becoming an ever-increasing reality
and this is having an impact on
languages.
Immediacy as in “lean as you use,
use as you learn”
The essence of CLIL is integration:
1) Language learning is included in
content classes.
2) Content from subjects is used in
language-learning classes.
It is a student’s desire to
understand and use the content
that motivates him or her to learn
the language.
ALGUNAS
CITAS
“Understanding the underlying
theory of a method seems to be
an integral part of evaluating
that method before deciding
whether to try it or not, as well
as a necessary step in
mastering it.”
