Mica Tape Electrical
Insulation
Mica tape is an interesting product that has multiple uses bothfor industrial and residential purpose. Chemically, micas can begiven the general formula –X2Y4-6 Z8O20(OH, F)4
In which:X is K, Na, or Ca or less commonly Ba, Rb, or Cs;Y is Al, Mg, or Fe or less commonly Mn, Cr, Ti, Li, etc;Z is chiefly Si or Al, but also may include Fe3+ or Ti.
Structurally, micas can be classed as dioctahedral (Y = 4) andtrioctahedral (Y = 6). If the X ion is K or Na, the mica is commonmica, whereas if the X ion is Ca, the mica is classed as brittlemica.
Used In Electronic and Electrical
Industries.
Create Gauge Glasses of High-Pressure
Steam Boilers
High-quality block mica is processed so that it is possible to
create gauge glasses of high-pressure steam boilers. This can
be done because of the high flexibility, transparency, and
resistance to heat and chemical attack nature of Mica tapes.
Used To Provide Structure For
Heating Wire
Mica sheets are used to provide structure for heating
wire (such as in Kanthal or Nichrome) in heating
elements and can withstand up to 900 °C (1,650 °F).
