The oncology treatment landscape is changing—what does the increasing role and use of cancer immunotherapies mean for those working in the ED? Emergency medicine specialists are often called upon to evaluate and manage patients with a wide variety of oncologic emergencies—what are the latest recommendations and best practices for recognition and management of adverse reactions associated with cancer immunotherapies and how can we improve outcomes in these patients? These and many other interesting top-ics will be addressed in this interactive and engaging CME/CE activity based on a recent satellite symposium led by Dr. Daniel Pallin.

Based on the NBC Television sensation, Minute to Win It, join other MCEP families/friends as they partake in 60-second competitions using household items to complete deceptively difficult games. Those involved will have a blast competing on the front lawn of the Grand Hotel, while also raising money for the Michigan Emergency Doctor’s Political Action Committee (MEDPAC). Prizes will be awarded to the winners while the losers are left to ponder what might have been. Specific details on this event will be available at the MCEP registration desk.

Children’s Activities

Grand Hotel babysitting services are available through the Housekeeping Department of the Grand Hotel for children 4 and younger. Babysitting charges are $18.00 per hour, for a maximum of three children.

Hike to Fort Museum & Manoogian Art Museum – Children’s Program – Monday, July 30Ages 5 & up: Join your friends for a fun hike to the Fort Museum followed by lunch at the Fort Tea Room. Kids will then visit The Manoogian Art Museum – one of the most diverse art museums in the region. In complement to the natural beauty of Mackinac Island, The Richard and Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum allows visitors to experience fine and decorative arts inspired by Mackinac through the ages. Summer Fun – Children’s Program – Tuesday, July 31 Ages 5 & up: Join your friends for a hike to the Woods for lunch and a game of Duck Pin Bowling. Enjoy a stop at Sadie’s Ice Cream Parlor on the way back. You must register with MCEP for this event – registration fee required.

TransportationBy CarMotor vehicles are prohibited on the Island. All travel is by carriage, bicycle, horseback or foot. Major highways lead directly to the Straits of Mackinac where you will find parking at Mackinaw City or St. Ignace before boarding a ferry to the Island.

Ferry Service to Mackinac Island Passage to Mackinac Island is provided by several ferry boat lines. Shepler’s Ferry Service (www.sheplersferry.com) is the exclusive ferry line for the Assembly. Discounted round trip fares of $19/adult and $10/child will be honored with possession of the custom coupon you will receive with your registration confirmation. Tickets can be purchased on-line beginning July 1, 2018 using the online promo-tion codes of: MEMA18. Luggage transfer is simple and convenient, with assistance provided on both the mainland and on Mackinac Island. Parking: Ample parking is available at all mainland ferry docks. All ferry lines offer complimentary outdoor parking. Indoor and valet parking is available for nominal charges. Taxis: It’s a short walk from the ferry docks to Grand Hotel. By AirCommercial Airlines: Mackinac Island is served by Pellston (Michigan) airport, 12 miles south of Mackinaw City. Commercial air service to Pellston is available daily through Delta Airlink in Detroit.

Mackinac Island Airport: Mackinac Island’s Airport’s 3,500-foot lighted, paved runway is capable of accommodating private and charter aircraft. The airport is one mile from Grand Hotel. Limousine & Shuttle Service

Mackinaw Shuttle (888) 349-8294Mackinaw Shuttle is a Pellston, Michigan Airport based companies that offer taxi service between Pellston Airport and the Mackinaw City ferry docks along with other Michigan cities on a 24-hour basis. This service is also available on a charter basis. They recommend at least 2 days or more for reservations. Cost is $50/person, round trip or $32/one-way. There is an additional charge for evenings. Reservations are highly recommended.
