Contact 2012 Transmits Opportunities On May 24 Michoud hosted Contact 2012 an
annual Industry Day sponsored by NASA the UnitedStates Small Business Administration and the Louisi-ana Procurement Technical Assistance Center The event was a success drawing more than 300 partici-pants from 195 companies across 10 states Eighty-six companies also participated as exhibitors The day was dedicated to helping government agenciesprime contractors and small businesses identify op-portunities and create mutually rewarding new part-nerships The event organized by Jacobs Technology is also designed to showcase Michoudrsquos site andhighlight our extensive capabilitiesIn the morning Robert Champion NASA Michoud
deputy director welcomed participants to our facil-ity and spoke about Michoudrsquos mission Jim Taylor Michoudrsquos site development director briefed the audi-ence on efforts to expand our multi-tenant manufac-turing community The keynote presentation delivered by Jeff Lynn executive director of Louisiana Econom-

Louisiana Techrsquos IDEA Place and Planetarium celebrated Space Days April 30 through May 4 in Ruston La NASA Michoud employee Rob Gravolet participated in the event and took the opportunity toinspire the students to pursue an education in sci-ence technology engineering and math ndash collec-tively referred to as the STEM disciplines Rob spokeabout Michoudrsquos historic role in building spaceflighthardware and presented some fun facts aboutNASArsquos exciting new Space Launch System rocketnow in development at Michoud and at NASA and partner facilities across the country More than 2000 students from across Louisiana
attended the event which included IDEA Place inter-active learning space and aviation presentations aplanetarium show and spacewalk and other activi-ties Louisiana Techrsquos SciTEC center houses the

course immersed the educators in a behind-the-scenes look at the work and culture of the two facilities They also participatedin five course meetings held atLouisiana State University duringthe academic year
Each Fellow also was required to videotape aninterview with MAF or Sten-nis employees and share theinterview in their classrooms These interviews gave theirstudents a direct understand-ing of how NASA employeesrsquo education in science tech-nology engineering or math eventually led to their careerchoices ndash and to fulfilling jobswith NASA At the graduation cer-
emony each fellow presented a summary of their year-longexperience before receivingtheir certificate
