URGENT VACANCIES - SOMALIA
Background;
Action Africa Help International (AAH-I) is an Africa-led international NGO that has been working
in Africa since 1993. AAH-I is currently implementing logistics management projects in South
Sudan, Zambia, Uganda, and Somalia, among other countries. AAH-I is seeking to recruit for the
roll out of the Somalia programme as follows:
1. JOB TITLE: Micro-Credit Enterprise Manager (MCEM)
# Position: One (1) Reports to: Project Coordinator Duty Station: Hergeisa – Somaliland Start Date: Immediately Project Duration: 12 months
ROLE The MCEM supports the Project Coordinator by providing community mobilization and establishment of Income-Generating Activities (IGAs) leadership among host communities, asylum seekers, and refugees. The post-holder will work closely with local government structures and partners/stakeholders to ensure project alignment with AAH-I mandate in the region. RESPONSIBILITIES: Projects Initiation, Implementations, monitoring and reporting
I. Carry out participatory needs assessments, identify appropriate income-generating activities
(IGA) to improve the resilience of the community
II. Propose objectives, elaborate work plans, facilitate implementation and formulate
monitoring plans for projects in consultation with the Projects Coordinator.
III. Conduct comprehensive baseline survey to guide project planning
IV. Plan and implement projects with relevant local partners with emphasis on promoting group
development through support, coaching, mentoring, regular feedback and identification of
investment needs and opportunities.
V. Facilitate the development of community dialogues to enhance sustainable IGAs roll out
VI. To build capacity of communities in community managed disaster risk reduction and
resilience building efforts
VII. Liaise and build linkages between communities and local governments as well as other
players in the region to ensure synergy and collaboration
VIII. Support the project team in the development of new project concepts and proposals using
result based management (RBM) approach with reference to specific donor regulations.
IX. Conduct timely monitoring of projects and develop reports for management and donors
X. Ensure learning and knowledge management in relevant areas.

Technical support Provide technical support to AAH-I and local partners staff teams in project planning and implementation and quality control while building staff and partner capacity in technical areas of expertise. Representation Support the project coordinator to develop relationships, and ensure a smooth collaboration with stakeholders - local government, communities, local potential partners Represent AAH-I in relevant coordination meetings, and national meetings as agreed with the Project Coordinator Budget management Ensure appropriate and prudent use of funds allocated to project he/she is responsible for during implementation and all field missions as per AAH-I and specific donor policies. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education University degree in either Micro-Enterprise Management or Community Development (or other related fields) from a recognized university. Knowledge and experience
I. At least 5 years’ experience and expertise in community mobilization in difficult and insecure
environments setting up community groups to participate in income-generating activities.
II. Have good knowledge and experience working in Somaliland or the greater Somalia.
III. Working Knowledge on participatory methodologies of empowerment of communities
including Community based approaches in development – Community Managed Disaster
Risk Reduction (CMDRR), Asset Based Community Development (ABCD), and Village
Community Banking (VICOBA).
IV. Be fully conversant with the local language of Somali and/or Amharic
Skills
I. Ability to articulate IGA community groupings and diversification of activities
II. Computer literacy with very good MS Word and Power point
III. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
IV. Good writing and reporting skills
V. Ability to work under pressure in remote areas with difficult communities
VI. Ability to deal with conflict and crises and mobilize communities for appropriate response
VII. Excellent planning and organizational skills
VIII. Proven ability to work with a range of local stakeholders including civil authorities, local
