Microsoft Access 2010 Lessons
1. Myitlab for Microsoft Access 2010. www.myitlab.com Students will create a new
account using the access code they purchased in the textbook bundle. Students should
use their full name as shown on PAWS registration and use their PAWS email. Students
must make a note of their username and password. Once registered, the students use
the Course ID for ISDS 2001 emailed to you by the instructor to enroll in the course. The
myitlab account is valid for 12 months.
2. Myitlab Customer Support at http://247pearsoned.custhelp.com
3. Students may use their own PC or use the LSU computer labs in Patrick F. Taylor and in
Middleton library to complete the myitlab assignments. I do not recommend using
Apple computers. You will be tested on a PC computer in the testing center.
4. Note: If you choose to use a home computer, go to www.myitlab.com and follow the
directions at the links for an Installation Wizard and Home Diagnostic Tool Kit. Make
sure your home computer is set up to run myitlab at top performance. Otherwise use
the PC computers in the LSU labs to complete the assignments.
5. Myitlab trainings, pretest, and exam – Chapters 1-10. On Moodle, students are given the
Word document containing a list of Chapters, Hands-On, Skill-based Trainings and Steps
Access Learning Objectives: Exploring Access 2010 Comprehensive Skills Covered.
Students should check off the tasks on the list as they go through myitlab and make
note of any questions or difficulties. Students should complete all the trainings and the
pretest well before the due date so they have time to ask the instructors for help as
needed. Students should repeat the training tasks 4-5 times as necessary to prepare for
the Access 2010 Exam (which is administered as Test 2 in the computer testing lab for
ISDS 2001). The pretest alone is inadequate preparation for the exam because the
pretest is contains only a small sample of the many training questions that could be on
the test. The pretest is merely a way to practice how the myitlab exam will be
conducted – a timed test, without hints or “show me”.
6. On Moodle, students are given the Word document containing a list of Chapters 1-10,
Hands-On, Skill-based Trainings and Steps Access Learning Objectives: Exploring Access
2010 Comprehensive Skills Covered. The students are to use this list as they complete
the online training and use it as a study guide for the Access pretest and Access practical
myitlab exam (which is administered as Test 2 in the computer testing lab for ISDS
2001).
7. Moodle contains the Word document Access_KeyTerms containing a list of Access
vocabulary, concepts, and examples. Students will learn these and be tested on these in
multiple-choice format in Test 3, along with questions from the Business Intelligence
textbook Chapter 2 Data Warehousing.
