OverviewBootcamp will get you trained in the basics of our faith, to go out and live your life as an example to your friends and to properly equip you to tell them about Jesus. Bootcamp will last for 6 weeks (January 28 – March 4). Our main goal for Bootcamp is for you to GROW CLOSER TO GOD! Our second goal is to BRING VISITORS who don’t know Jesus, so they can meet Him (60 visitors, 1 new visitor per person per week). Our third goal is to raise up to $2,000 for our missionaries, The Brockingtons , who are in Belize. Last, but not least…HAVE FUN!!!

During these six weeks, you will be split into 3 different squads, Navy, Sky and Gold. You will compete against each other in various competitions, as well as, earning points for your team on a weekly basis. There will also be a chance for you to earn bonus points from team fundraisers you do, and various random spirit points I give out at my discretion on Wednesdays. We will also have a double and triple point’s night. Here are the ways you will earn points on a weekly basis:

Attendance – 30,000 pts Team T-Shirt – 50,000 pts Visitors – 75,000 pts

Physical Bible – 40,000 pts (The Bible app on your phone won’t count.) Missionary offering – 10,000 pts X $ amount given Theme of the night – 20,000 pts. For participation (plus extra pts for team competition for the

evening) Best Themed person – 75,000pts Scripture Memory – 50,000 pts Bible Reading – 50,000 pts Personal Time (Prayer/Worship) – 30 minutes per day – 60,000pts

There will be a GRAND prize given to the winning team. To qualify for the final prize, you have to have been in attendance for four (4) of the six (6) weeks. In addition to the grand prize, there will be a prize given to the student who brings the most visitors (has to be 5 or more) and the top two (2) Speed the Light givers (has to be more than $25), also a BIG prize to those who complete EVERY spiritual challenge each week (Physical Bible, Scripture Memory, Bible Reading, Personal Time) In addition, there will be tactical advantages given to those each week that complete their spiritual challenges.

There is also another way for you to be able to go on the winning prize, even if your team loses. You can be a MVP. MVP’s have a very high bar to reach. They have to be at Bootcamp EVERY week. They have to participate in all Bootcamp activities. They have to bring their physical Bible every week. They have to bring 5 visitors. Bar is set high, but MVPs are special! You can do it!!

BIBLEBootcamp is designed to help us grow closer to God. There is no better way to understand Him than to spend time with Him and let Him talk to you through His Word, the Bible. God uses His Bible to reveal Himself to us and also to guide us on how He wants us to live. Hebrews 4:12 actually says the Word is alive and powerful! It is not just a boring book we are supposed to read because Pastor J or your parents tell you to. It is literally a window into the very heart of God and reveals to us who we really are!

For the next five weeks, we have picked out three books we feel will help you build a foundation of knowledge of who God is and how He would like you to live. John is a book written by one of Jesus’s closest earthly friends. It really exposes the heart of Jesus and who He was while He was on this earth. Next, we chose Proverbs. It was written by King Solomon, who was one of, if not the, wisest man to ever walk the earth. God chose to use him to teach us some common sense wisdom in our everyday life. Next, we chose James. It teaches us how to live for Jesus in our everyday life. James is full of awesome sauce!

Make sure you pray before you start reading and ask God to make it ALIVE and POWERFUL in your life and not just a bunch of words on a page written a long time ago. Also, ask Him to give you a passion to read it every day and not just a checkmark on your to do list. Enjoy these next five weeks and don’t stop with just these books, keep reading what He is saying in the other books too.

Memory VersesMemorizing different parts of the Bible really helps us with our life. When we get into a tough situation or are tempted to sin, if we have the Bible hidden in our heart, then we can overcome those things. Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” It is the ultimate weapon as Hebrews 4:12 says. So, as you begin to hide His word in your heart, know that it is a powerful weapon for you to use in your daily life with Him!

WAYS TO REACH YOUR FRIENDS Make a list of friends you want to see have a personal

relationship with Jesus.

LOVE THEM!!

Take your list with you everywhere!! Pull it out and say a quick prayer every time you have a free second.

Begin each day by praying for your friends.

End each day by praying for your friends.

Each time you see them or talk to them, pray that God will make an open door for you to show His love to them, for you to invite them to Bootcamp or to share your story of how you met Jesus and what He has done for you.

Tell your friends you are praying for them. Ask them about their life and if there is anything specific you can pray with them about.

Find a prayer partner (girls with girls, guys with guys), meet once a week and pray together for your friends.

WAYS TO INVITE YOUR FRIENDS TO BOOTCAMP

Give out the Bootcamp fliers.

Tell them how Jesus has changed your life.

Tell them how The Link has influenced your life.

Tell them they will get a chance to win cool stuff.

Invite them to experience awesome music, videos, games, snacks and other crazy stuff.

Ask your friends to hang out with you at Bootcamp and offer them a ride.

Explain to them that Bootcamp is the only place to be on Wednesday nights.

Pull together with other Link students from your school.

Tell them you’ve got the most awesome Youth Pastor!! :)

WAYS TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE BROckingtons

Do yard work 5 times for $20 each time. Mow lawns, rake leaves, trim hedges, pull weeds…..

Baby-sit for $5 an hour for 4 hours on 5 different nights.o Be nice to the baby!!!!

Make something – sell it!

Team up with your Bootcamp teammates and do a team fundraiser!!o (Car wash, bake sale, donut sale, etc.!)

Have your own personal yard sale and let all the profits go to missionaries!!

Go without 2 soft drinks per day for 5 weeks, or give up 1 “fast food” meals per week, and give the money to our missionaries.

Find 10 friends or relatives who will give you a one time donation of $5 for our missionaries.

Set aside $5 per week for 5 weeks from your allowance

to go to our missionaries.
