Postwick Hub – Update No. 17

One of the key areas of work early in January has been to progress the construction of the retaining wall to create a space beneath the pier and abutment of the existing A47 bridge which will be the route for the new ‘off slip’.

The capping beam to the retaining wall was completed before Christmas and monitoring for settlement continued until work recommenced in the New Year. The go ahead was given by the engineers to commence removal of the material in front of the piles to enable the construction of the new retaining wall to continue.

Removal of the sheet piling in front of the new South bridge pier commenced in midJanuary and was completed on time to reveal the first part of the new bridge structure..

Work commences overnight on 2 February to remove the sheet piles to the North pier which will require off peak closure of the Eastbound ‘on slip’.
