New Amsterdam was the capital of New Netherland◦ English took over, Duke of York took over and

renamed New YorkWilliam Penn started the colony of Pennsylvania Many people came to this region for economic

reasonsVery large farms (large parcels of land) given to

rich families to settle here (New Amsterdam)

Hudson and Delaware RiverMilder winter here compared to New England
