The Middle School Counselors will: ● Explain the 9th grade program and provide
an overview of graduation requirements ● Meet with each student to discuss his/her

Honors Recommendations
● Recommendations are made by the 8th grade teachers based upon the student’s demonstrated ability in the subject.
● Questions regarding these recommendations should be directed first toward the teacher.
Types of NYS Diplomas Regents Diploma
● Students must pass one Regents exam in each of the following subject areas:
● (1) English ● (1) Social Studies ● (1) math ● (1) Science ● Plus 1 additional, comparably rigorous, state approved
assessment for the 5th examination required for graduation. Approved assessments may include 1 additional Regents exam passed in social studies, math, science, or another non-traditional pathway assessment.
