General Information

● About National Council For Hotel ManagementNational Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology is an autonomous body under

Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The Council centrally regulates academics for B.Sc.Hospitality and Hotel Administration and other eleven structured courses of studies that are imparted atthe existing 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management, 12 State Govt. Institutes of Hotel Management,19 Private Institutes of Hotel Management affiliated with NCHMCT. Five Food Craft Institutes locatedin different parts in the country offer Diploma programs in specific operational area. All Institutesuniformly follow standardized course curricula prescribed by the Council for the different professionalprogram.

Quality of education and training provided by the Institutes help students to emerge asprofessionally qualified personnel for hospitality and other allied service sectors. The Council has tilldate trained more than 45000 Hospitality Managers, Executives and other operational personnel. Itsalumni from affiliated Institutes occupy key positions in hospitality industry as well as in teachinginstitutions both in India and abroad.

● Eligibility For Admission

Minimum Qualification

Minimum qualification for admission is a pass in the examination of 10+2 system of SeniorSecondary education or its equivalent with English as one of the compulsory subject. Those appearingin 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear in JEE on provisional basis. Provisional admissionswill stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is notsubmitted at the time of counselling or at the time of admission. Admissions will be subject toverification of facts from the original certificates/ documents to be produced by the candidates at thetime of Counselling and at the time of admission in Institute. Even after admission to an Institute, if anapplicant is at a later date found ineligible on account of having submitted false information ortestimonials or for having suppressed any material information, his/her admission will be cancelled andthe fee paid will also be forfeited. Decision of National Council in this regard shall be final.

List of Approved Qualifying Examinations for Indian Students

● Plus two level examination in the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education of any recognizedCentral/ State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education and Council for Indian SchoolCertificate Examination or State Boards of Secondary Education.

● Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.

● General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka) at theAdvanced (A) level.

● High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University.

● Any Public School/ Board/ University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized bythe Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education.

● H.S.C. Vocational Examination.

● Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum offive subjects including English as one of the Subjects.

Age Limit

For candidates from General and OBC categories upper age limit is 22 years are eligible. In thecase of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates upper age limit is 25 years will be eligible.Upper age limit for Physically Challenged candidates shall be reckoned as per the category he/shebelongs to since Physically Challenged category candidates may belong to General/SC/ST/OBCcategory. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/ Pre-University Certificate is theonly authentic proof that will be accepted. At the time of Counselling, this certificate must be producedin original as a proof of age, failing which the candidate will not be considered forcounselling/admissions.

Physical Fitness

All qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate from a Registered MedicalPractitioner in the prescribed format given in this Brochure at the time of admission.

Language of Question Paper

Question Paper will be bilingual i.e., in English and Hindi (except for English Language).

Marking Scheme for JEE Written Test

For each question the candidate will be awarded one mark if he/she has darkened only one bubblecorresponding to the correct answer. In case he/she has not darkened any bubble or has darkened morethan one bubble, he/she will be awarded zero mark for that question. There will be negative marking tothe extent of 0·25 mark for darkening a wrong bubble. There will be no negative marking forAptitude for Service Sector, however, each question in this section carries marks of 0·25; 0·50; 0·75and 1·00.

Merit List

All India merit list of candidates shall be prepared with a unique rank on the basis of marks securedin the Written Test as well as other factors taking into account i.e., marks obtained in Englishcomponent, Service Aptitude component.

Tie-breaking

In case of tie in All India Rank, marks obtained in secondary examination or equivalent / date ofbirth of the candidates shall be taken into account for tie-breaking and allotment of Institute of HotelManagement shall be made accordingly.
