welcome to  Millennium Park

Millennium Park has garnered attention all over the world as one of Chicago’s

greatest jewels. From the impressive Frank Gehry designed Jay Pritzker Pavilion to

the artistic wonders that include Cloud Gate, aectionately known as “the Bean,”

the Park is a year round attraction. But never more so than in the summer, when

free musical entertainment, family-friendly activities and tours oer non-stop

enjoyment.

This summer a new exhibit lls the Boeing Galleries, featuring monumental ceramic

sculptures by artist Jun Kaneko. A new summer lm series will screen at the Pritzker

Pavilion, and opening nights of both the Chicago Blues Festival and Chicago Gospel

Music Festival will take place there. Additionally, for the rst time ever, the Chicago

Jazz Festival will be held in Millennium Park, featuring four stages of music.

Returning this summer are the city’s free concert series in the Park: Downtown

Sound, Loops and Variations and Made in Chicago: World Class Jazz. Visitors and

residents will continue to enjoy a great summer tradition, the Grant Park MusicFestival, and kids of all ages can have fun all summer long at the Family Fun Festival.

On behalf of the City of Chicago, I encourage you to plan a visit to Millennium Park

this summer. You won’t want to miss it.

Sincerely,

Rahm EmanuelMayor

The Chicago-based, psychedelicrock band Speck Mountain opens the show.

An Evening with Glen Hansard feat. Lisa Hanniganand members of The Frames • JUNE 10Glen Hansard’s rst ever solo album, Rhythm and Repose, has achieved great criticalsuccess. Chicago and Thrill Jockey recording artists Brokeback are the opening act.

Carolina Chocolate Drops + Angela James • JUNE 24The Grammy® Award winning Carolina Chocolate Drops certainly demonstratethe inuence of their regional Piedmont background with ddle and banjo-basedmusic, but to merely call the group bluegrass would ignore the band’s constantevolution as members seek to highlight the central roleAfrican-Americans have played in shaping our nation’spopular music. Opening this evening is classic

country music artist and transplantedChicagoan, Angela James.
