Welcome back to everyone, and I hope you all had a restful half term. It seems a long time ago already as so many things are always happening at Millfields and this week has been no exception! Thank you to all the Reception parents who came to dine with their children on Tues-day. We hope that you enjoyed the food and also seeing how lunchtime works for your child. We would welcome any feedback – please make any comments on the Parent Questionnaire that will be available on Parents Evening – Wednesday 16th November. Sign-up sheets for this will be available at the end of today. Thank you also to all the parents from Early Years who came to the Social Event on Wednesday evening. We hope that some of you met other new parents and you had a chance to speak to the teachers in a more informal setting. Last night we had a great turn out for our Board Games Evening – lots of children created games as part of a competition during Maths Week and then came with par-ents and friends to play the games and have some fun! Thank you to everyone who came and to Keli for organising! We will definitely be having another evening to play games in the near future! Also this week, Year 2 and Year 5 classes have had a visit from the London Fire Bri-gade. This is something that we take part in every year and it gives the children an opportunity to learn about fire prevention and what to do in an emergency. Great news this week! Millfields has won 2 of the Hackney Mayor’s Music Awards! A huge well done to Samantha Aboagye in Year 6 who was nominated by us for the ‘Pupil Award for Musical Achievement’. Samantha was overwhelmed to be an-nounced the winner and her family and friends were all delighted as they cheered her on at the Hackney Empire last night. Millfields also won the category: Instrument Fund for Ensemble Development! A fantastic result as this means that the school will receive £5000 to spend on new instruments for all the many children who are already learning to play an instrument and for more children to benefit, and to take part in the ever increasing ensemble groups that are taking place! Well done to Roz and Tom for putting the application together! Finally, it is Work Week next week. Thank you to the parents who have responded to our request and volunteered to come in and talk about their jobs to groups of chil-dren. If you are able to give up half an hour to talk to the children, please contact Crystal via the main office. The children will all be going on trips to various work plac-es next week, so if you have not returned your slip, please do so asap. Have a good weekend. Best Wishes, Jane

Thought for the Week
What have you done over the past year that
you are and are not proud of? What can
you do to make up for your mistakes?
Hello Millfields Community School, I’m Asmaa Hajat (the School Prime Minis
ter) During democracy week I elected the cabinet.
Hopefully we’ll all make the school better (not that it isn’t good). If you have something you
want to change about this school, tell me or the school council and the
cabinet. I just want to say thanks for voting for me to be the PM of the
school. Thank you
