Creating Our Own Pipeline

Urban Teacher Residency Program (UTRU)

Project Metro: In partnership with MPA and Cardinal Stritch University, MPS

develops own alternative certification program to meet the teacher staffing needs of

Metro Region and Priority Schools.

• 25 teacher residents selected to begin program July, 2013

• Year one: Co-teaching with master teacher for certification (Math, Science,

SPED, and Bilingual) to be assigned in Metro Region Schools

• Year two: Resident teacher is fully certified and becomes

teacher of record and begins 4 year commitment to MPS

• Project METRO seeks to add 25-50 residents per year to pipeline.
