This course will explore dimensions of mindfulness. It begins with a review of the mindful movement
and its practices, then explores the concepts of non-duality, Inter-being, mindfulness in flow, and
shamanic journeying. Various opportunities for engaging in a mindfulness practices will be offered.
Participants will also enjoy an evening of theatrical musical selections and learn about the power of
mindfulness for character development.
Tyanna Yonkers, Professor of Religion at the University of Mount Olive, leads the
course. Tyanna teaches mindfulness practices in a variety of settings, including
the university classroom and retreats. John Clifton, Professor of Theatre
at the University of Mount Olive, will demonstrate character development
through mindfulness in music. He is a seasoned man of the stage, including
both directing and acting. John Blackwell, Barrow Chair of Biblical Studies and
Professor of Religion, will present Mindfulness and the Shamanic Journey.
