Connection Lost?
We found ourselves in a backwoods section of the mountains. Kami and I had driven for
some way, trying to go around a rockslide that had occurred in Tennessee off of the
gorge on I-40 heading towards her parents for Christmas. Now growing up as a
mountain boy I know at times there are places that you find yourself that reception isn’t
the clearest. That being the case, it was our GPS guiding us through this section of
unknown Tennessee. We found ourselves on the side of a mountain on a dirt road with
what looked to be a moonshine still off in the distance and we had not seen a car in the
last hour on the drive. Then the GPS went dead. Our connection to the telephone service
went completely out. We had no Gs on the bar that indicates the connection. We were
lost in the woods. That feeling of knowing you are lost with no guidance and no
direction hoping that your journey is in the right direction is not a place any of us like to
find ourselves.
1 Kings 2:3 ‘Observe the requirements of the Lord your God, and follow all his ways.
Keep the decrees, commands, regulations, and laws written in the Law of Moses so that
you will be successful in all you do and wherever you go.’
September 20th we will begin a new sermon series entitled ‘5G’ where we will look at
Grab, Gather, Grow, Give, & Go. These ‘G’s’, can show us places where God wants our
hearts maximum connection to guide our journey in the relationship with God and
God’s world. We will read through the old testament scriptures together, our Disciple
Reading Plan, 1 & 2 Kings. At the end of this series, we will respond with a faith
commitment where we will talk with God and make some decisions about how we
might reconnect in the coming year. This is a series you do not want to miss at Mineral
Springs. Alongside our Sunday morning worship, we will be continuing our Spring Kids
Online! The kids will be following with us through the 5Gs with a new character called
Captain 5G. This fun and interactive video and grab bag will help keep our kids and
families chartered on the same course.
Your brother on the Journey,

As we begin the month of September, our youth
are back to school... Well somewhat back to
school. The new normal looks very different, but
we want you to know that our youth leadership
team is right here with you along this new
journey. If there is anything that you need, or
anything that you think that we could do to help
you during this new time, we are all ears and
happy to get involved. Know that we are praying
for our youth daily and we value your trust and
belief in MSYOUTH ministries here at Mineral
Springs UMC.
In an effort to continue to keep our youth safe, we
will continue to meet on Sunday nights outdoors
for one hour, from 6-7pm. We will provide
games, individually packed snacks and drinks, a
devotional and time to interact in person. We are
not requiring face masks, but if you feel more
comfortable sending your youth with a mask or
gloves, we totally understand. Gloves, masks and
hand sanitizer will also be provided each and
every Sunday night.
During the month of September, we are going to
try to start a small group devotional on
Wednesday night from 6-7pm underneath the
picnic shelter. Sign up will be available at Sunday
night youth gatherings.
Also during the month of September, we will
continue to "Spread the love" with our carding of
church members’ yards. if you or your youth
would like to help please let Daniel Parker know.

Daniel Parker
SPRING KIDS ONLINE!
We continue our new online connection with children
weekly on Wednesday Afternoons.
This will be a YouTube-like presentation for our
children to enjoy weekly that will connect with our
Sermon Series. We will be finishing up our series
Basic Instructions, the character ‘Nanny’ will help to
‘cook up’ our Biblical Theme for the week while
helping to get our kids discussing Christ’s work in
their lives.
On September 20th we will begin a new series called
'5G'. Our children will connect with a new character
'Captain 5G' who will share what it means to be a
steward of God's resources.
During our Sunday mornings, we will hand packets
out that connect with the weekly lessons each week
that will help guide some discussion with our families.
We find this to be a fun and engaging way of
reaching our children and families. Make sure to look
for and share these videos on Facebook.
Mineral Springs Men Bible Study have resumed on
Tuesday nights at 7pm in the Family Life Center.
SPRINGERS
Springers is an active group of people 55 years of age
and over. The Springers meet every 4th Sunday of the
month in the CLC at 5:00 p.m. and go out to dinner
once a month on a Tuesday.
There is a devotion, musical groups come in or various
speakers of interest are invited to all meetings.
Afterwards is a light supper/snacks and time to
fellowship with one another. We adjourn around 6:30
p.m.
We are involved with many missions, within the church
and outside of the church. There is no fee to be a part
of Springers. There is a Mission Jar that is available if
anyone would like to make a contribution.
Because of COVID-19, we have only met 1 time this
year, but our involvement has not stopped. We were
involved in "Adopt A Graduate/Senior" where we gave
our graduates cap and gown pictures and gift cards to
some of their favorite places. We welcomed our new
parsonage family, The Mears, with a deli tray of
sandwiches as they worked hard to move into the
parsonage.
At Thanksgiving and Christmas, we have very nice
catered lunches.
Our BIG fundraising project is the sale of PECANS
once a year. Hard work is put into this project. With
this money, all meals, entertainment, and speakers are
paid for. NO MONEY is ever taken out of Mission
contributions for any of those things for ourselves.
Mission contributions go to Missions only.
Whenever we begin our meetings again, we hope to see
a lot of people there. JOIN US. It is a lot of fun getting
together.
Denise
Join us on September 13th for a special service outside
at 9:45 am under the trees.
This will be our only service that morning,
a combined service as we close out our series Basic
Instructions and hear from one of our own,
Barry Roberson share about service.
Beginning September 20th we will begin a new series
entitled 5G. We will walk through the books of 1 & 2
Kings as a community of faith.
